You don't. Music is designed to by synced one way, from iTunes to the iPhone. Music in your iTunes library should be backed up regularly through iTunes, or the music on the computer, as well as other data, backed up with the computer. If you have changed computers, you can move your library from the old computer to the new computer. After that, when you go to sync your music, it will warn you that your device has been synced to a different library, however once it removes the music from the first library, it will replace it with your backed up library, you will not lose anything.

It depends on the types of music you have on your iPhone:

For iTunes Store purchased songs, you can connect your iPhone with your computer > launch iTunes > If you can't see the sidebar, show sidebar (on Windows PC, it in View menu)> Right click on your device > transfer Purchased.

As for other songs downloaded or transferred to your iPhone, you can't transfer them to your computer until you try third-party app, like tunesgo.

you can transfer purchases(like transfer music from iPhone to iTunes) by;

1. plugging your iPhone into iTunes.

2. in iTunes right click on you iPhone under "Devices"(on the collum at the left side of iTunes)

3. select transfer purchases

All of the purchased items from you iPhone will import to iTunes if you do that.

What shanasunshine1 post totally work for me. Thanks a million.

I suggest you read this article: iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer - Apple Support

If you purchase music from iTunes store on iPhone, you can follow these steps to transfer music from iPhone to iTunes:

  • Before you transfer your purchases, make sure that your computer is authorized with the same Apple ID account you used to make the purchases.
  • Connect your iPhone to the computer. Wait for its icon to appear in iTunes.
  • Go to File > Devices.
  • Choose Transfer Purchases from [device name].

You can try to use this method. Start iTunes on computer/Mac, and go to “Edit > Preference > Devices”, and check “Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically”.

Plug iPhone into computer via the USB cable. iTunes will recognize your iPhone and show it at the upper right corner of the main interface. Click “File > Add Files to Library” at the upper left corner of iTunes to add music files.

After iTunes add music files into library, you can click the icon of iPhone at the upper right corner, and then choose “Music” in the summary. Then check “Sync Music from”, and choose “Selected songs and playlists”.

Then iTunes will start to sync music from your iPhone to iTunes. This way maybe useful to prevent your iPhone being synced.

This answer makes no sense. i have the music on my iphone but for some reason i can't put it on my macbook or my iMac ? If i add any music via CD to my macbook iTunes library and i want to add it to my iPhone at next sync iTunes wants to erase all my phone music and replace it with the one or two albums that i have on my macbook library. why does iTunes have to replace the whole library on my phone? and why can't i get my music from my phone to my macbook?

Unless this is purchased music that you can transfer the purchases for, music syncing is one way, iTunes to iOS device. It has always been that way.

Sounds like at one time, your phone has been synced to another library, or you have manually manage music checked, or you have manually manage music checked and are trying to change it to sync. The other explanation is that you have sync music checked and have unchecked all of the music except for the new music. It would help if you explained a little more about this, and considering the age of this thread, you would have been better of to start your own, and then explained your issue.
