iTunes Match Error 4002 - Can't Connect

Has anyone notice that iTunes which was running extremely slow now displays Error 4002? I've tried it on Several Different Desktops and a Macbook. APPLE------is iTunes Match Down Again???????

When you attempt to use it, it gets to the step "waiting for match results from iTunes" and then after about 20 minutes you get Error 4002.

Has anyone been able to fgure this out? I've tried the Store, "Option-Match Off," then back on procedure. It works the first time but that's been it. I even repeated it three times. If I leave iTunes open the "Error 4002" will eventually return. The drag is that when it does, I'm not at my computer so I won't know for hours- sometimes I've left iTunes uploading a track and it never happens. I'll find out that the Error has occured when I look at my iPad or iPhone and find out it never happened, and I see that bouncing iTunes icon on my dock. Very frustrating.

What roccoboy leaves out is that you will have to have iTunes scan your entire library again...if you had already matched/uploaded music and you turn it off, when you turn it on it starts all over again.....I'm now sitting here while iTunes match gathers info on my 22,000 song library....should have caught it before I tried the method...if it works, it will be worth it, just beware....you may have to wait awhile...

Hi roccoboy,

Defnitively turning off iTunes Match and turning it back on wirked for me. I holded the option button at the same time, but does anyone known what that does? Well rocobboy in any case thanks 🙂

I guess for me,

Now it is time for phase 2. I closed iTunes and reopened it and no error 4002 so far.

I shall continue to close and open iTunes daily. Maybe add or remove a song here and there and see if the problem doesn't appear fo a week. I may find out how the problem is made and maybe report it back here.

I had the same problem as everyone above, but operating my Itunes on a Windows7 PC (Error 4002) - which came up EVERY time i logged into Itunes.

Following RoccoBoy's steps above to the letter didn't quite work for me - however i used his suggestions and tried something similar:

Went to Store, Turned Off Genius altogether. Went back to Store, selected "Turn Genius on", entered login/password, agreed to terms etc as if logging on for first time - and Voila - worked beautifully !!

Subsequently Genius went through the motions of recompiling everything, but all good !!

Just to double-check, i closed itunes appl down, and re-opened it - only this time, NO MORE ERROR 4002 message, and connected to Itunes Store for good measure first go.

This may be an alternative/supplement tip to Roccoboys - particulalry for non Mac users (i.e Windows/PC like me)

Hope this helps someone !!

Cheers 🙂
