Unfortunately, the normally excellent iPhoto Library Manager doesn't seem to have been updated to cope with iPhoto 9.4.2 yet - when I tried to rebuild the database using it, it failed to recongise a single one of my images - which are either Canon Raw or JPEG and threw up an error message for every single event.

I'm just trying to rebuild the database from inside iPhoto now

I am getting fed up of Apple publishing 'updates' which haven't been properly tested and which cause more problems than they solve. Seems to be a pattern over the last year or so.😠

Exact same problem here (same SIGBUS crashlog) . Cmd-Opt open also doesn't work, as iPhoto crashes *before* giving the various rebuild options.

When I get home tonight, I'm going to remove & reinstall 9.4.2. See if that works. I'm not hopeful, based on several forum entries.

After that, if it doesn't fix it, I'll try downgrading to 9.4.1 -- SrgBrazil in this post (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4481497?start=0&tstart=0) seems to indicate that that fixed it for him/her.

9.4.2: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1608

I'll report back tomorrow.

Tip: avoid 9.4.2 for now :-)

Update: turns out my iPhoto crashing was just the first symptom of a failing hdd. Eventually everything started failing, and had to get my hdd replaced. Apple did so without charge even though I'm outside my 1 year warrantee. They also replaced my iMac's screen as it had some ghosting issues -- again, without charge. Excellent service. I then timemachine'd my backup back, and am fully up & running again.
