Hardware thoughts on performa 630CD

Here recently I pulled my old performa 630CD out of the attic to use out in my garage. While she fired up running 7.6, I wanted to upgrade it to 7.6.1.
The problem was I burned a CD to install 7.6.1, but did not know the CD drive was not working. Thinking it was the drive gone bad, I placed another one in.
The CD still didn't show up. So now I thinking it is something related to the CD drive. I have power to the drive, but can not get the CD to mount.
Any thoughts?

I recently completed a 12-step program in which I swore off getting any more three-digit Macs. The next program is to swear off four-digit Macs that start with a "6."

New mantra: Think "sevens" and higher with something more than a "2" in the second position.

My participation in the Forums dates back to '99. In July 2000, the Discussion Forums were revamped and registration became mandatory. As a result, many of us have 2000 listed under our screen name, even though some have been around longer.

I had to send my son off to college to learn about the forums. Glad he did - nice to meet up with you, Allama and more of the old time apple community.

PS As for '99, forget preparing for Y2K. We were living a sequestered life with party line phones and no 911 dialing. We were excited about discovering phones that did not have rotary dials!
