iOS6 freeze, quit or jerky scrolling, browsing with Burmese (Myanmar) unicode fonts

Unicode fonts have been used for many years.

We use Burmese Unicode fonts name Zawgyi Unicode font to view our language on web.

We use special apps (Mogok, Myanmar Browser lite) for viewing on iPhone and iPad as this font is not embeded.

They are OK to view all our language sites without problems prior iOS 6.

Now with iOS6, the problems come.

Safari engine (rendering for web pages) causes those apps frozen, quit or jerky scrolling on all Apps especially Mail, Safari and other Myanmar apps.

If we receive emails with our unicode fonts, Mail App is frozen or quit.

Not even that font, Apple approved Myanmar Unicode fonts also have the same issue.

Here is the web link (Mizzima News - Burmese) you can browse on iOS Safari and you won't see the language display but you will see the problem. If you download the apps that I have mentioned, you will be able to view the fonts.

This is not an isolated incident. It happen on all iphones and ipads with iOS6.

So, it is clearly A BUG.

iPad, iOS 6

As my case was also closed, I wrote to Apple's authorities and he replied:

"Having the issue closed is a good sign. It means that someone else reported a similar issue and the defect has been resolved. A defect cannot be moved to closed unless it has been verified as working. "

Let's cross our fingers and pray. Hopefully it will be resolved on 6.1. I am thinking to test 6.1 beta 3 once I have subscribed developer licence.

It is difficult to know, because iOS does not include fonts for these languages so normally nobody would expect to be able to use them, except via jailbreak or special apps adding their own fonts, and then the user has to complain somewhere like here.

I have so far seen complaints for Myanmar, Khmer, and Thaana/Divehi (Maldive Islands).

Thanks Tom. I simply wrote 'all countries which dont have keyboard in iOS 6'

You should correct that, because it is badly wrong. It should be "all scripts which do not have fonts in iOS". There are a lot of languages which have fonts but no keyboards in iOS where there is no problem: Bangla, Gurmukhi, Kannada, Oriya, Sinhala, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Armenian, Georgian, Lao, Yi.

I complained two cases to Tim cook. One was our font problem and the latter was we don't have App Store yet. So we had to signed up US App Store that's been really frustrating. I got a call from his assistant I guess so this morning and asked me a lot including my device IMEI. My English skill is pretty bad I didn't understand what he told me. He also didn't understand what I said. I missed a chance to tell him what we've been suffering here
