How to retain hyperlinks converting word 2011 to .pdf and Adobe PDF

I'm having this issue with saving a MS Word 2011 doc. Hyperlinks are NOT preserved. Seems unrelated to any browser version. I'm on OSX 10.7.4. Have tried the 'built-in' "Save as PDF" option under the PRINT GUI, also tried the "Save as Adobe PDF", as I have Acrobat 10 installed as well. Appreciate any tips.

<<Update 2016>>

Hi all,

I have this problem since 2013 and there have been some updates in the meantime. I'm now using OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan (which comes with Pages, latest version I use as of now is 5.6.1 (2562)) and MS Word for Mac 2016.

Here are my experiences:

- The direct way from Word to PDF keeping all the links in a clean way, still doesn't work. Major bummer...

- The work-around using Pages (which is now free) does work (at least with latest version) DOES work to maintain hyperlinks. HOWEVER, one thting I noticed not working is when you have images that are hyperlinked (e.g. is you have a docx with the twitter symbol that leads you to your twitter page if clicked). Pages CAN'T do hyperlinked images to begin with so you can't use it for this.

- What I use now: convenient, free, even has support to merge multiple docx into one PDF: https://online2pdf.com/en/ (also comes in multiple languages)

- Another alternative is to open your docx on a Windows machine and convert it there. HOWEVER: In Windows versions you loose the ability to directly insert PDFs into your doc, in case you want to have vector graphics or the like in your docx. So if you open your Mac-made docx with beautiful, infinite-resolution PDF-graphics, then you'll get pixelated graphics on a Windows machine. BUT: The whole hyperlink thing works at least.

So, I've tried a lot, online2pdf seems to be the best option so far, although I agree with everyone arguing here: This is a major issue for anyone working professionally with Office for Mac and has been for years!

Hope this helps the community.

Thanks, Roman

The problem with taking my carefully crafted layout to Windows Word is that the layout (breaks, column break tweaks, etc.) don't translate faithfully due to the differences in pixel sizes between Mac and PC. <sigh>

But thanks much for the 2016 update. This is a very frustrating issue.
