Genius suggestions sidebar is gone in iTunes 11

I guess this partly explains the lousy quarter

I personally made a request on the official feeback page. I don't understand what's happening to Apple these days... Steve, we miss you all... so much.

And now, the new iOS 7 has just been unveiled... Outch! But it's another debate.

With the recent version 11.1 release, can anyone say whether Genius Recommendations is back (either as a sidebar or otherwise)?

NOT the one where Genius builds recommended songs from your playlist.

NOT the one based on artist only.

The one based on a specific song, where the recommendations list is unpurchased songs from the iTunes Store. i.e. the one with the same functionality as 10.7.

Yep. I posted comments about this when the iTunes 11 first rolled out. Dropping the Genius sidebar was a horrible mistake. Since then, my iTunes purchases have nearly ceased. And in case anyone is wondering, there have been a continuous flow of complaints on this issue. Obviously, Apple is not listening or just doesn't get it. ***?

Nothing nearly as convienent. You can access the Itunes store from The Album or artist view. And if you do this you will see suggestions. I guess if you frequently use the Album or Artis pages withing itunes it works OK. I mostly use playlists so it does not work for me.

Even if I do use the above method it still means I have to wait for the (slow slow) store. Defintly cuts down on impulse buys. So maybe this is good for me but bad for apple.😉

I'd switch in a minute if a better choise existed.

If you want Genus suggestions based on a specific Album go to the Album tab and select the Album.. In the middle of the page a list of the songs in the Album will appear. Look on the right of this section and you will see a button that says "In the store". Press this button then on the right you will see suggestions.

All in call, I prefer the new version. But still miss the sidebar. I just wish the store was not so slow.

Thanks nbar. But this is in reference to a sidebar on the right side that used to be visible to show new purchase suggestions.

But this just gives you slbums and songs from the artist you selected, not similar artists. Too bad, itunes mistake with a popular feature.

Myybe it depends on the album. So it only shows if a suggestion actually is available.

Click the Home button in the itunes store, then look to the right at Quick Links, the Recommendations for you.
