Genius suggestions sidebar is gone in iTunes 11

See if Genius is checked in Preferences>General

and that the sidebar is showing under View>Show Sidebar

Click the album, then STORE (on the right) it shows the album AND suggestions (or related songs)

In music view click on Playlists along the top. Genius mixes is listed in the playlists.

Genius is checked under Preferences and my Sidebar is showing... Genius still doesn't show up and it isn't listed in the Playlists

Try clicking the Album tab then click on one of your albums; at the top right of the album colored area click the button "In the Store". This gives Recommended Songs/Top Albums which have the price, Add to Wish List, etc as in the old Genius side bar.

Merely starting Genius will not give you a playlist.

The second option, Create Genius Playlist, however will and can be viewed under View>Show Sidebar.

I think there's a little confusion here...I am (and i think TzTerri + others are) looking for is the genius purchase suggestions sidebar, not the genius playlist functionality.

I also (used to) use the genius suggestions sidebar a lot, i found most of my new music that way. If it's gone, i'm going to be very disaappointed. The cleaner interface is fine, no issues with it other than this - any chance we can have the genius sidebar back as an option please Apple?

Thanks for this screen shot - I thought it was my answer. but, I can't seem to find an option to MAKE a genius playlist - when I click on the arrow to the right of the song, I get an optipon ot Start Genius, but no option to "Create a genius playlist" The item is not on my menu at all. WTH??? Making genuis playlists was probably the most useful tool in iTunes for me.

just discovered that some songs do give the option, but many don't (maybe because they are outliers in my library)...problem solved.

Do you just want the list of songs recommended for you based on the songs you've purchased? I couldn't find it at first either.

Go to 'iTunes Store' and then click the little button that looks like a home button on the black bar next to the 'Music' button. Then, if you look to the right of the page under Quicklinks you should see a link saying 'Recommended For You'. Click on that and voila 🙂

I don't think this is what the original author meant. It used to be the case that you could select a song, and it would just display suggestions for that song on the right. Quick access to new music. I also used that all the time, and would love to have that back. Seems weird to me that Apple takes out such a convenient shortcut to spending more money.

That's exactly what I would like...it's vital if genius purchase suggestions are to be of any real use - at least if you tend to browse like i and seemingly others do.

Please can we have that back Apple, even if it's an option.

I think the original author meant the genius sidebar like the one to the right of this picture. I wish we could get this feature back also

Thanks for the screen shot, KingofHilo, that is clearly what the orginal question refers to. I have the same problem using the iPhone 11 for Windows: The Genius sidebar is GONE. What's up with that? I believe that most people who use Genius do so by checking the sidebar suggestions as they click though their exisiting library. Apple, if you are listening, please answer! If this view of Genius has been removed it is a serious mistake. Please bring it back ASAP. Many people find new material via the sidebar view. If you have eliminated it from iTunes 11 you will make it much harder for your customers to find and buy new tunes. I'm sure that's not something you intended. So take the hint. 🙂
