Where is iTunes DJ in iTunes 11?

I just upgraded to iTunes 11 and noticed that iTunes DJ is missing from the Sidebar as well as from the dropdown menu. I used this feature often at my house for parties so iPhone users could have fun suggesting music.

What happened to this feature? Is it still there, but hidden?

I'm really disppointed at the loss of D.J.

I'm hoping that Apples will take this on board 😉

I'm already wishing I hadn't updated and wonder if I can go back to 10.

I never used D.J. to create a whole random playlist as it often threw up songs I rarely listen to.

I used D.J. to throw up random suggestions for Playlists which I wanted to create myself, both for my iPod Classic, which I keep at home and play through the Sound System and for my 1st Generation Nano, which I use in the car and at gigs for songs I play between sets..

The point with D.J. for me, was that you could press "refesh," as often as you want.

None of the "solutions/alternative," ways I've seen of getting round that, seem to deal with that issue.

Apple, sort it out please, or at least give us the option of going back to an older version?

I am already missing the ITunes DJ which I used for randomly playing songs from my library.

I join the list of people who would like to see it back in a very near future. I was bright, simple to use and fulfililling its purpose.

I thought that iTunes 11 would mean more functionalities, not removing existing ones.

Also, please check whether there is a possibility to have more lines on a screen.

With the same screen, I started at 51, went down to 49 in version 10, now down to 40 in version 11.

So far I'm really really upset about this. My friends and I absolutely LOVED iTunes DJ!!! I was having parties and one of the main attractions was tapping into my itunes account and requesting songs and voting on them.

Probably the biggest issue I'm actually having right now, is having to long press on everything to get a menu....otherwise it changes over automatically to the new song. Having a song cut in the middle BY FAR the most annoying part of the new interface. Always having to long press on a song to get a menu *****...I'd rather touch a song and instantly get the menu.

Maybe I can live without iTunes DJ....as long as the menu's the way its set up now doesn't lend itself to getting songs cut off so quickly if you don't long press on every single song. Please please work on this.....iTunes DJ worked really really well IMO, and now its a bit of a pain in the ***.

I'm not disturbed, by the silence, nor surprised.

It comes with the territory these days, I'm afraind, not just with Apple, but with so many companies, particularly those you have to go through a virtual minefield with, in order to contact a "real," person.

However, hopefully, someone is actually scanning these boards and the message will be passed on to someone among the powers that be, and D.J. will quietly be re-introduced, it shouldn't be that difficult 😉

In the meantime, I was so hacked off at losing one of my favourite features, I un-installed "11," and re-installed "10.7," and was all excited about getting D.J. back only to find that I couldn't open "10.7" as the Library had already been attached to "11.", so I had to re-install it.

If there were a way round that, I'd switch back right now and hold onto "10.7." till Apple have sorted it out 😠

Shoot!!! I was so about go back to 10.7, but even then I'd still have the updated "remote" app where all my business was actually done.

My FB post yesterday. "Updating to iTunes 11", and provided a link.

My FB post today. "No iTunes DJ in iTunes 11, someone deserves to be fired!!". Responses all are saying that they are glad they have NOT updated.

Get the word or out........Do NOT update iTunes or the "Remote" app. You'll probably be sorry......at least if iTunes DJ was part of your music regimmen.

At RookyJ.

I re-installed 10.7 having read on line that it could be done and the only caveat was to make sure everything was "backed up," before hand and having just backed my entire Library this a.m. onto my External Harddrive, I thought I might be able to copy the songs back on the P.C. and deal with it that way.

How wrong I was, when I tried to open a file on the E.H. as a "test," I got the same message..about the Library being "attached," to a "newer version."

I've sent back a "feedback," email on 11..for all the good it will do 😁

However, I'll continue in the meantime to search for a method of going back to 10.7......there must be some way of doing it?

Hi.

Thank you so much..

Done and sorted and a much easier "fix," to get the head around than some I've seen..

I now have 10.7 back and working..🙂

Don't know if I've done anything wrong, in the set up, but I've lost all my playlists, no big deal, I can make some more and everything was added back into the Library after set up as Date Added: 1/12/2012....but I can live with that too..

🙂

As for the "stupid people," comment from earlier..it actually took about 5 minutes to learn how to use the "new interface," and another 5 to decide I didn't like it..

If mourning the loss of a much loved feature is "stupid," I'll wear it..
