Feb 10, 2013 12:08 PM in response to jimimac 60by Jassy,Thanks, Jimimac 60. This helps somewhat. When I click on the icon in the playing window a NEW window opens displaying the artwork/album cover. It floats on top of iTunes. That is not the same as that cover artwork being the bottom left corner of the side panel.
Something better than nothing but just not the same.
THANKS!!

Feb 11, 2013 7:58 PM in response to AnttiUby Pc 2 Mac,For those of us that do not use crossfade and never had it turned on and still have this problem I am testing this. Maybe someone has tested this already. I back up to the cloud and lately I have noticed that the play count is sparatic. Only when I sync it to the computer does the play count update. This is new, as I have always backed up to the cloud. Any thoughts on this? Goes with iOS 6.0 and 6.1. So for me, I have to manually sync all the iphones and ipods to the computer to update the play count.

Feb 14, 2013 5:16 PM in response to HurricaneKimiby polishedstaple,I want to add my vote to this thread so Apple will get this fixed. I was really looking forward to the new iTunes 11, but its not as awesome as I thought it would be. I can't remember what I clicked on, but I reverted back to the old look and feel.

Feb 20, 2013 5:31 AM in response to Steve Dentonby Crispy Duck,It's not fixed the playcounts updating on very short song files - less than approx 10-15 seconds.
Playcounts still not updating for these. Try it on a ringtone or something.
I know it's not as important as full songs, but it still shows that not ALL is back to how it should be,

Feb 24, 2013 1:34 AM in response to AnttiUby postnocomments,As of this date, I have the same problem. It has not been resolved. Apple has really fumbled with this version of iTunes. Terrible, and unnaceptable.

Mar 11, 2013 9:38 AM in response to logresby JKATHRENS,Your problem seems to describe mine exactly. Random play counts are disappearing, but the "Date Last Played" remains. I've taken a screenshot of my issue. I'm on a playlist called "Never Played It", organized by Date Last Played, with Play Count displayed. Logically, there should be no way to sort this list by "Date Last Played", but there they are at the top of the screen. Right now there's about 20 of them... nearly all were purchased iTunes files (though some were pre-DRM and others post-DRM) Guessing I can expect more each time I sync my iPod?
I create my iTunes experience largely using Play Count, so this development is unacceptable.
Here's the screenshot:

If the most recent iTunes update fixes this problem, please let me know and I'll grab it before my library is destroyed piece by piece.

Mar 25, 2013 8:12 AM in response to Celo71by xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,iTunes 11.0.2 and last played is still not being update for short tracks.
eg: a variation in a classical piece of 21 seconds never gets updated (unless I play it on my iPhone and sync back to iTunes).
Come on Apple, sort it out.

Mar 29, 2013 6:10 AM in response to AnttiUby airmojo,I just discovered this issue today... with the Date Last Played and Plays count not getting updated (on iTunes while playing song from iTunes).
Does not seem to happen on all songs being played... but happens always on what particular "song" that is only 20 seconds long... played shorter "song" that was 14 seconds and it updated properly.
I do not have Crossfade on, so that does not seem to have anything to do with it.
And I am updated to the current release Version 11.0.2.26.
I hope Apple gets this fixed... it is very annoying... especially since I will be very aware of the issue and will want to keep checking everytime a song plays.

Apr 14, 2013 4:45 PM in response to AnttiUby 473Bellwood,The problem continues, at least for me. I don't use crossfade (never have), and random songs' plays aren't registering (I put all of my songs on a new computer in February... I had to start fresh, so they started from zero plays).
At first I thought that only some of the songs I had bought on itunes were affected, because for a number of them, at the end of playing some of the songs, instead of moving on to the next one (either sequentially or by shuffle), itunes would just stop, and the play wouldn't be registered.
I downloaded these songs from the store again, and the problem was fixed.
Now, however, I see that a number of the songs I put on itunes via CD are not updating their playcounts... this is happening even thought other songs from the same albums ARE updating.
Why? I have no idea.

Apr 14, 2013 5:10 PM in response to 473Bellwoodby 473Bellwood,Even though I don't use crossfade, I just turned it on, clicked out of itunes, opened itunes again, turned off crossfade, clicked out again, opened itunes again, played a "problem song," and then re-started my computer.
The song is still counted as "played," so maybe it's working... I'll keep my eye on it, to see if it suddenly reverts to "unplayed" a week from now.
