I really dislike iTunes 11. How do I revert to an earlier version?

I really dislike iTunes 11. How do I revert to the previous version (v10.6)?

This may not help, but it's worth a try:

If your device is a classic iPod (the one with a click wheel), then you can use itunes to turn on a setting which mounts your iPod as an external drive on your computer.

I don't know if this is still available in itunes 11, (but if not, you can borrow your friends computer and install iTiunes 10 there and use that)

Ok anyways, once you mounted it, you can go to this site

http://lifehacker.com/393084/how-to-recover-deleted-files-with-free-software

and use one of those programs there to recover your deleted files.

This will either work beautifully, or it won't work at all, depending on the level of permission that the iPod's OS gives to the computer.

Best,

🙂

I don't think it's unreasonable, especially in view of all the reactions to 11 posted on this forum, to have written this to Apple (with very little expectation of them taking the slightest notice):

iTunes 11.1.4, which I foolishly believed Apple would not direct me to upgrade to other than because it must be better, is a total nightmare. Please get rid of it. Go back to a USEABLE system. iTunes11 is a copybook example of an over-engineered program with an utterly confusing, confounding, and annoying presentation to a user.

Why? Surely you have user testing? Are all your iTunes testers iTunes engineers who have fully lost sight of what it's like to USE a program?

Please don't go down the Windows path of setting engineers on make-work projects that produce unworkable products.

Either that, or change your advertising from "we keep it simple" to "our engineers muddle along on make-work projects that produce unworkable products – that annoy you!"

Hey Pmonaghan3,

I do agree with you, and a few months ago I would have said pretty much the same thing, but after using it for sometime I think it's grown on me. It's like learning to ride a unicycle; it's a little more work but a lot more fun.

It is missing some of the features I liked, but the new ones are pretty cool, so in the end everything balances out.
