I am using Windows Vista.Just downloaded this "new" itunes version. I tried all the trouble shooting options and none work. Anyone else having this problem?
Same here, windows 8 was using iTunes 10.7, upgraded, the app freezes, can not use mouse or keyboard, other programs are fine. Prior to upgrade, system was stable.
did both of you verify that your computer met the minimum system requirements for itunes 11

if your system meets the minimum requirements then you may just need to restart computer, or potentially uninstall and reinstall using the steps in the below article
Windows 8 intel I7 3770k processor 24 gig ram geforce 6850 video card. Have not had any problems with this new build until I upgraded iTunes this afternoon.

Mine is freezing as well. I have Windows 7. Very frustrating! I've restarted my computer several times. I REALLY need to use this!! Any one have any suggestions?

only update is windows defender, restarted...program opens, but very slow to respond, hard drive cranking up a storm, going back to 10.7, despite no listed compatibility with Windows 8, worked like a charm for me. Gonna wait for an update.
Same thing here. It says its updating genius information, and does nothing. Also does not show any devices in iTunes
REALLY irritating. If they're going to make changes..test first and make sure they work...obviously there's a disconnect somewhere if a lot of people are having this issue...
Same issue here. Windows 8. iTunes will open and sit at "Accessing iTunes store" and just freeze. Let's not even talk about if I have my iPhone plugged up. iTunes won't even become visible until I unplug it. Of course then it freezes after that.
sounds like its waiting to get a response - have you all checked to see if your respective firewalls to see if it is allowing iTunes access to the web?
Same issue occuring with Firewall turned off. However, there's an iTunes exception in the firewall which I'm assuming has been created automatically during the installation of iTunes.

have you run netstat while launching itunes 11 to see what its using?
I could, but reproducing the issue with the firewall off gives the same issue, so I doubt if its not permitted to access any servers
then you are experiencing a proxy issue with windows firewall (or whatever firewall you are using)
run netstat while launching itunes to see what ports it is trying to access then edit your firewall settings to match the ports that netstat is showing and then reboot your pc and see if that resolves your issues
Itunes 11 freezes after I open it. Help please?
