iTunes 11: No more album art preview for selected track??? :(

For me, iTunes 11 is much worse than iTunes 10.

You can no longer view album art by selecting a track in list view.

In list view, album art is invisible — the album art square in the lower left-hand corner is gone. So unless the track is playing, you can't see album art. This is terrible news for people who need list view, like DJs. People like me who rely on album art to remember what an album is, can no longer just click around and see the covers. This was a tremendous memory aid, which is now gone.

Now to see album covers, you have to either play the track, or switch to grid or artist list — which show either no tracks, or very few tracks.

Bummer.

why can't ya'll go to album view and play a track then click on another album it will open and you can view that art work while still playing the first song.. I was furious about the list view with art work being taken away.. but for me "ALBUM" view is much better but I just can't sort in chronological order of date added or BPM but I can live without that because its more important for me to be able to find my music any schmucks can figure out BPM. I recognize most of my music by the art work so I understand the need to see it.. what I'm trying to comprehend is why people need to see art work the size of Texas

I don't want to see it that big, just big enough to see and remind me of the album. But I want to see it in the list view without actually listening to the song, where I can also see track, artist, album and whatever categories I want.

On my 21.5" iMac, the largest I can see artwork in the lower left of the sidebar is about 4" square. I usually scale it down to be smaller to see more spreadsheet type data.

What's important to me is seeing album artwork in list view for things that are not playing.

I just want to be able to drag artwork in and out of the album art window. You can't do that in album view. Also, in album view, artwork often appears that's not embedded in the song file, presumably from "the cloud". It's deceptive. I've clicked "Get Info" on songs from album view (with art displayed) only to find the artwork section was blank.

So go to Artist vew... check off group compilations then in that side bar highlight All Artists. ALL of your Artists in ABC order will list... It will group by decent size ARTWORK with the ALBUM Name and song title. You can then scroll from A-Z and see each and every piece of art work that is available without playing a darn track. The only thing that ***** is you can't sort by date added, BPM, last played ect, but

how people see art work is the issue correct?

Im not being rude but can you please clarify what you refer to as "dargging it and out" of the art work window. Once you drag it out what do you do with out? how many times do you drag one piece of art work in and out?

I said I wanted to see artwork in List view, and the first thing you say is switch to Artist view?

I do not understand why you and Max who do not even have this issue keep coming back here repeating the same solutions that do not work or wondering why we use itunes the way we do. Why are you even here?

Many people need song view because we need to either break down the long list of artists and albums into categories to make browsing it easier and more manageable, or need to see other information as well. Those are two completely valid reasons and it is why song view exists. It doesn't matter if you don't need song view, many of us do need song view.

And there is no album artwork in song view except for a tiny thumbnail. No artwork for song playing and no artwork for song selected.

Furthermore, even if I could use artist view, little 1/2 inch previews of every album is not what I want or need. I want 600px x 600px displays of the artwork from the album that is currently playing, or the album that is selected. IN SONG VIEW

I dont understand why you are giving me the time of day when you feel I am not contributig to the topic.

Because you have ruined this thread. Any chance for an article to link here, or for Apple to use this as a reference for what poeple want is ruined. Because of you. It is now filled with nonsense and people repeating the same thing over and over and over again.

You clearly need to participate in online forums for some kind of validation, but please take it somewhere else.

LOl - Oh Steve you are a handful.. So how about you make believe we call it LIST VIEW... pretend thats the name. But really go to ARTIST and you can accomplish the same just slightly different from a visual standpoint. In all honesty I think you are acting a little spoiled (im sorry if thats personal) But you can cross the street 7th street or 6th street but you will still get the other side

I use Garage Band to create podcasts, when creating chapters I would drag the album art out of the itunes art window in the lower left hand corner.

Conversely, if there was no art, or if you wanted to add art, you could drag artwork in from anywhere.

This feature was available to any song selected. My iTunes feeds an audience so I can't just switch songs to get the artwork when I'm doing chapters in a podcast. Hitting "get info" to get the artwork requires many more steps than previous versions of iTunes.

I just want the ability to select, see, copy paste and drag in iTunes back. There is no practical workaround in iTunes 11.
