I've been using my iTunes since my first computer nine years ago. I remember the initial joy of having every song that I owned ready for me on my computer screen for viewing pleasure and organization. I haven’t looked back or even flirted anywhere else since then. Up until this week I would have considered myself a 'lifer'. That is, until this newest version was released.
In this iTunes loyalists’ mind, the lack of offering the original yet beautiful ‘grid’ view that has been so essential to our music-listening experience seems a reversal of everything that Apple once offered for its customers.
After 8 iPods, 2 Macbooks, 1 iPad, years of meticulous organization of play counts, playlists (smart and otherwise), and countless conversations trying to be persuaded to move elsewhere, I’m afraid my worst fear may be realized: with iTunes removing the grid option from it’s basic format, it may finally be time to say goodbye to my closest muical compantion, even after all these years.
I could handle when FB added the timeline, I'm ok with paid Google adverts, iTunes: feel free to push the iStore as much as humanly possible. But please, don't change what made me fall in love with you.
I miss the old you. Bring him back, or take back the ring.
