I'm not about to bash you for spilling soda. Accidents happen, and sometimes they are extremely disappointing and cost $700 to fix...
I would warn you that you very well NOT get a cheaper repair, and you most definitely will not get your repair done quickly with a PC.
With PCs, there is no “Windows Store” (unless you live near one of one of the brand new ones that just came out a month or so ago) to take your pc to. You’ll have to take it to best buy (who lost my laptop for 3 weeks and tried to bill me for that time) or Staples (who tried to make me pay $380 when they said there was nothing wrong with my pc, even though it did not turn on at all) or any number of places where you can’t be sure exactly how qualified the people working there are.
After running up several thousand dollars in half-arsed repairs from many different PC places, I finally just switched to Mac. In my experience, it has cost me much less in repairs.
I would save up for a new mac with the $99 3 year warranty and just be more careful around it. If it needs fixin, get it fixed. It may be pricey, but you wont need to take it to 3 different places for 2 months getting the same problem “fixed” over and over, running up a bill like you very well may with a PC.
