O.K. got the shiny new itunes 11 but want to keep my old background color. I prefer the darker background instead of the sterile white look.
I remember a long time ago I was able to change it in the older itunes but forgot where or if its even possible to do this now.
Also if anybody has figured out a way to change the font on it would be nice, I really do not like the current font.

Changing the background color in Grid View is not possible in iTunes 11. The option to make it grey or white was found in the Preferences. They have now removed this. Very annoying, I must say. I can't stand the white background.
It's no longer possible to resize the album art, either. Postage-stamp sized album covers on a white background looks really lousy on a 21" widescreen display.

This worked for some parts of the iTunes window, and makes is much more manageable for the eyes. Thank you for this post, I had forgotten about that tab in Onyx!
so glad you asked that question, I had the same problem and I read what the one person told you about what to type into the terminal, I did it and it went right back to white background... so thanks!

GET That BLACK Background with White Text.
Open Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes high-contrast-mode-enable -bool TRUE
Get that nice smooth soothing black background back!!!
I found myself reading this thread because I often work in iTunes at night, and I hate the white glare from the iTunes 12 workspace. I tried the Terminal fix, but I like this solution better (my system is 10.9.5 Maverick) : Go to System Preferences / Accessibility / Display Tab / click INVERT COLORS – voila! Your iTunes interface is inverted along with the rest of OSX. I also click "Show Accessibility Settings in Menu Bar" to be able to change is back quickly. I hope others will find this useful.

Apple, Please develop de patch to solve this...
AND,why do they think they even need to mess with stuff like this anyway? It wasn't a problem and it's not an improvement! This reflects an attitude within Apple.
