Tried 3 times to run the update my ATV3 via wired ethernet, all "Not Successful". I disconnected network cable and configured the Apple TV to connect to the network via WiFi, and it worked first time. Then plugged back the ethernet cable and it works fine again via wired.
This happen to anyone else?
Sure hope I don't have to disconnect the wired network whenever I want to update...

I have the same problem, but have not tried wifi update yet.. just annoying.. maybe I will skip this update...

Go wifi. Ethernet doesn't work. Fail.
Same here. Wi-Fi worked here thanks to this post and Google search. Another example of Cook's lack of attention to details and customer focus. No wonder the stock is going down!
Interesting - enabling wifi did it for me first time after half a dozen unsuccessful wired attempts. Switched back to wired immediately (wireless is poor in this part of the house).
exactly the same problem here, WIFI works. Resetting everything didn't work on wire either.
Yup, unplugging Ethernet worked for me, what a peculiar problem!
Unplugged Ethernet, configured wireless, successfully updated and then plugged Ethernet back in. Tested update and checked for additional updates. Now current and no issues. Thanks for the silly workaround.
I have been stubborn, seems like so much effort to just upgrade mine. So now that the new Apple TV software came out, I had hoped that it would work now. Nope. Still fails. Maybe tomorrow I will unplug the Ethernet and setup wifi to just upgrade the device (bad quality control there Apple, Maybe you should hire me for QA).
Who am I kidding? The updates haven't provided me enough reason to go through the hassle yet. Add apps to it, then I will upgrade..
