What are your thoughts on the New iTunes 11?

I for one am not very impressed! You lose cover flow, and the ability to resize your album art. Unlike previous versions where everything is not in just one area now your searching over the whole itunes for what you need to do. Its cluttered and instead of just editing one album your stuck at looking at all the other distractions instead of what your trying to edit. What are all of your thoughts on this new itunes?

I rolled back after trying the original version of 11. Of course, Apple keeps trying to force me to move to 11, and I keep checking out all the "new" versions.

Has anyone else noticed that they lead off with fake "improvements" (adding Hebrew - really? - everyone in the world needs to upgrade for that?) and then move on to the real reason for the new version -- to fix things they broke with the last new version?

Clearly, from what I've seen here and in forums involving many of their other software products, the company has now decided to put only inexperienced or second-rate people into developing any software other than iOS, but they honchos are not willing to let any customers out of the eco system. If they'd let anyone develop music management software that would let me sync with my devices, I'd bolt in an instant.

Overall, I'm now comfortably 'meh' with itunes 11.1... I'm making good use now of the "up next" feature (almost never used the dj feature of 10.7), and I must say, once you can wrap your brain around that "play next / add to queue" feature without accidentally borking anything at some point, it seems fairly OK.

... But..... Is it just me or is there a bug that if you comb through your collection and add enough individual "up next" songs, it decides on its own without any prompting to just play everything in the currently selected playlist after the ones you explicitly added?

Background: I have a "master seed" smart playlist that filters out certain static playlists and has date/rating/not recently played criteria... At times like tonight, I'll go through that playlist (which is most of my library) pick some songs and "add to up next"... I'd check the list as I was going along and it seemed fine at the start... At some point I noticed after about 30 songs or so, it decided to also add a "resume playing master seed" at the end.... This is maybe the third time I see it did that.

I didn't tell it to play the entire playlist... Not now, not any of the other times... At least I don't think I did...

I suspect this is a shot in the dark type of question (probably "can't be done").... Anybody know if it's possible to get itunes 11 to somehow divulge more info than just "up next: 12 songs"? Something silly like "1 hour and so many minutes"?

It would be useful to have something like a status bar that pertains to the up next list.

This isn't a problem if you are playing a smart playlist that is "not played in so many days" because you could select that playlist and use the status bar, but not so much if you're playing an ad-hoc playlist.

That's weird. Do you have the Sidebar visible? If so, select the Playlist in the sidebar and the option to "Burn Playlist to Disc" becomes available in both the File menu and with a control-click.

If you have the Sidebar hidden, then there will be Playlist button at the top of your iTunes window. Once you've clicked on the Playlist button, your Playlists will show up in a Sidebar and you can right-click or use the File menu to burn to a disc.

I find that iTunes 11 behaves very much like iTunes 10 if you always keep the Sidebar visible.

itunes 11 is an unmitigated piece of ****! Steve Jobs must be rolling over in his grave. Why for the love of god, and 10 years or more did the decide to so radically change the user interface and navigation. It has now become a useless ugly app that looks as if Bill Gates designed it.

If this is the future of Apple under Tim Cook, it will be a short one. The man has absolutely no appreciation for how things should look and feel. iOS 7 is the same way. I have replaced this junk with 10.7 and will keep it as long as I can.
