What are your thoughts on the New iTunes 11?

I for one am not very impressed! You lose cover flow, and the ability to resize your album art. Unlike previous versions where everything is not in just one area now your searching over the whole itunes for what you need to do. Its cluttered and instead of just editing one album your stuck at looking at all the other distractions instead of what your trying to edit. What are all of your thoughts on this new itunes?

I really like the new iTunes Software update mainly because it looks very simple yet elegant. I especially like how it doesn't have the side navigation panel anymore that had the links to things like Music, Films, Tv Programmes and Apps. It looks more professional and less crowded which in my opinion is quite lovely. Also I really believe that Apple has done wonders to the iTunes Store, it will be a lot easier to use for those who are new to Apple Products and Apple Softwares. Lastly I do think that iTunes could be improved by at least giving the option of having Coverflow for those who prefer to see the Album Artwork instead of just a list of songs. Once again Apple has given us something amazing!

I don't think i've ever been this disapointed by an iProduct ever. All my tv shows became watched, so i had to click each show (not seasons) individually to set them at unwatched. I clicked the "device" icon by mistake on the eject so I can't sync on wifi anymore. It's too much of a display change. when I double click on a tv show it starts playing instead of showing me the show individually so I can pick. I don't know how to fix that. They should change slowly, fix and ameliorate the existing. The version might be good, but it'll take me months to find everything. If you don't think that changing everything all at once is a bad technique, think of what you'd say if they did that to your car. change the pedals, manual to automatic, steering in the back seat and when you discover the changes, you're already late for work. I don't have time to stare at my imac all day. I'm late for work just by writing this message.

I'm starting to grok how to use it. I'm not exactly happy with it. I find myself missing the Show Duplicates command the most. If Apple gave that back to me, I could be resonably content I suppose. Being able to shuffle the entire library would also be welcome. Why should I have to create a playlist with everything in it just so I can shuffle my library. I'd love to have the old search functionality back, but I don't see that happening. Apple is way to in love with Spotlight style search. Better support for multiple libraries would be terrific. Right now, certain preferences are global. All preferences should be library-specific. But OK, that would take some brain power to reason through that, and I think we all agree that seems to be in short supply at Apple right now.

I get that a certain kind of user would really like this. I really do. On some level I'm happy for them. But just because you don't have a problem with something, doesn't mean there aren't problems.

Peace.

Hi Mac & Fromage

even though there are almost 30 pages of people complaining, some people just THINK they know better - what can we poor simpletons do ?

personally i thought using iTunes 11 was a nightmare specially if you're managing close to 3TB of music, duplicates gone, impossible to adjust the size of your artwork, lots of little boxes here, there & everywhere making it look VERY busy, white background & no possibility to change it, anemic ''toolbar''

speaking of white background, years ago this was tried out, people hated it & the option to select either white or grey was implemented - no longer with the slider which allowed you to select just YOUR shade of white, grey or black but still...

have this team who made this version of iTunes learned nothing from past experiences or is it just plain stubborness ?

the whole thing just looks & feels like being hapazardly put together by a bunch of teenagers trying to impress their IT teacher with LOTS of gizzmos but definitely NOT Apple grade stuff

all very much ''geared up'' to get you FAST into the iTunes Store & that to me is quite irrelevant : i have enough music in my library to last me a couple of lifetimes but i guess it COULD be handy for those with small, 200 to 400 GB libraries or something..

then the whole scroll through your albums thing, who came up with THAT ?

for me it took bloody ages to scroll through all my library while looking at puny little album covers - a REAL pleasure, are they joking ?

since i didn't buy an iPad nor do i need one, i can live without PUNY - i have more than enough ''real estate'' on my 27'' iMac to display album art in roughly 2'' X 2'' - no problem whatsoever, it yelds approximately 6 horizontal rows X 4 vertical

having bought it from Apple it would be slightly strange if it was no longer catered for to say the least....

then i love when i get to artists of which i have 20, 30, 60 or MORE albums ( Mozart takes the ''crown'' with close to 200 albums.. ) & again what a bloody nightmare - it just looks SO CROWDED

all in all a sad affair & one i'm ecstatic to have been able to ''downgrade'' back to 10.7

i LOVE change but only if it does make one's life easier, more efficient - now change just for the sake of change ? count me out...
