What are your thoughts on the New iTunes 11?

I for one am not very impressed! You lose cover flow, and the ability to resize your album art. Unlike previous versions where everything is not in just one area now your searching over the whole itunes for what you need to do. Its cluttered and instead of just editing one album your stuck at looking at all the other distractions instead of what your trying to edit. What are all of your thoughts on this new itunes?

Hi MyMac8MyPC

i never used Cover Flow as such, looked at what it could do, it was fun for 5 minutes, fine, move along... BUTsince it was user selectable then why drop it indeed ? maybe not a majority used it but it becomes clear to me MANY did & miss it

in a day & age when even car manufacturers have realised they MUST provide their customer base with ways to ''personnalize'' their mass produced vehicles, it just strikes me as a bad marketing strategy

i guess the future will tell..

I agree 🙂 Some features like 'duplicates' will be added back, but currently Apple has no plans to add Cover Flow back. Like you said, time to move on.

Nothing wrong with the Apple HiFi i have one here in a griffin shoulder bag that i have connected via optical link to an airport express fill it full of batteries take big sound out and about.. works like a dream still even with iPhone 4 + with the dock pin connector ( which is one of the Apple bum note moments you forgot to mention)

I'm sure Steve is watching you hold it wrong 🙂

In principle it was great, but the price & hype was something it never managed to live upto, like the G4 Cube.

where do I start... not only would I be happy going back to iTunes 10.. I'd be willing to skip iTunes 11 if you could get my old Sound Jam MP runing on my Mac Pro.... the best I can say about iTunes 11 is afte several hours trying to get any sense out of it.. most prvious upgrades only occupied the time it took to update the library before it was running as intended... after my first day with 11 it was like a pointless day at the interface of Excel.

None of the views i use are available Music, TV Shows or Podcasts. In music the failure to be able to be in Column Browser mode and search on a word to experience the songs albums or artists that reflected that word is impossible instead i get a search window that is a mutated cross breed of Sherlock and Genius telling me nothing of any use..... I always sort playlists out by last track played which means updating ipods gives playlist views always with a new song as first item ( Been doing this since iPod 1 if anyone remembers them)

iTunes DJ with a thousand playlists in my library i avoided the main music library because of al lthe stupid clutter like the old Griffin iTrip frequency tracks and the best way to access the obscure playlists i relied on was via iTunes DJ which had the added benefit of Cover flow and control by iPhone / iPod Touch but always the monitor let you know what was happening if the phone got misplaced... now its liek lucky dip trying to find what playlist is playing if i move to another menu bar feature....

and no thumbnail of album art work at bottom of rh menu bar.. .this was helpful when you lost soem music and wanted to know which tracks were missing media.. just arrow key the highlight and as it passed each song the need to load album art forced it to display the Exclamation mark if the song was missing now it seems you have to play each song which then gives you the missing song retreival warning box that has to be closed before moving on....

lets not go onto the tv show or podcast windows.. but i cant understand why they could not leave the old view options there for thsoe who preferred them. I would imagine any old silver surfers who upgraded their iTunes ot 11 wil lbe full of despair as they try to navigate their music collections... Apple this is a greater disgrace than switching off iTools then iDisk and making iWeb sites obsolete.... at least there were alternatives.... iPhones need iTunes...

FIX THIS NOW or I am off to Linux after 27 faithful years on Mac before you screw up mail.. oh you did .. mobile me and backup.. a disgrace .screw up iphoto .. er oh you did.. .aperture... final cut pro x.... infact maybe I've already given you enough chances and this is the last straw

If that guy on the first iPod advert 1000 songs in your pocket was trying to find his music and synch his ipod with iTunes 11 he would be trashing his powerbook with a sledgehammer after 2 minutes

I was never fooled by the cube .. not that there was anything wrong but anyone saying the hifi was rubbish, cant of had one although there was an issue with the dock conenctors that could have been designed better but is universal with the doc connector, fundamentally the hifi was a better answer to much of what else was out there at that time just like the iPod... unlike the iPod better rivals came along. The only farce was the oh so short shelf life at the apple store... one reason i will not be touching any apple tv with a barge pole....

Hate it hate it hate it!!! Not only does it eliminate features like side panel cover art and cover flow, but it is so much harder to use. Why "fix" it if it ain't broke?!? Plus, it freezes up constantly. I'm in the process of burning my CD collection into iTunes. Now I have to quit and restart after every CD because the program freezes up. A huge pain the a**!!!

Apple, HEAR US! PLEASE do another update immediately that returns itunes back to the way it was. I'm quickly losing faith in the company, and I have been a loyal user for 20 years!

That's the risk of stocks & shares.

I wonder what it will look like after they announce the post Christmas sales. Our local Apple store had people queueing to get in last weekend. Times are tough, but it looks like Apple are still making them as fast as they sell.

It looks like Apple generally have a lull before Christmas I'm not sure what happened this year, is it the patent wars, iPad Mini, new iPad, delayed iMacs & iTunes that happened between since August? Maybe Mountain Lion underwhelmed people?
