I'm not a fan I have to say.  It wasn't broken before so why change it?  What new bits did we get with the new version?

The app section is annoying me.  When I plug in iphone, ipad etc and click to see what apps are there it's hard to read.  The tick boxes were easy to see at a glance but now scanning my eye down to see what's on the device and what should be added etc I have to read a word at the end - it's just not as quick as before.  If there was a way to sort it so all the installed ones are at the top and then the not installed after that, that would be a helpful addition to the sort menu...

I understand that new versions look different and it's a matter of playing with it, but I would like to know the reasons behind the change to see whether it's worth all the extra time I am spending working it all out again so I can do exactly what I was doing before with the old version....

To Porf - thank you so much for the option command S to get back the sidescreen - very very happy with that!!

Nice to hear that others (besides me and all of my family and acquaintances) think that iTunes 11 *****.  As I wrote in another place to Apple, Microsoft could not have done it better.  Here we are with Apple in the same world where we have become blithering idiots and The Company has to think for us.  So I have to update my whole library on my iPod Classic in order to continue.  I realize NOW (after it's ruined) that I might have been able to move an album or song at a time, but Nothing is clear.  So I decide to update my iPod with my whole music library even though I have updated it manually since the very first iPod, because I have things in my library...stuff I've created myself as a SFX designer for theatre, or cuts from an album... that I just didn't want to listen to on my iPod or have take up space.  Create a playlist, I hear peaople say.  Oh, I had plenty of playlists.  They didn't synch.  They're lost... from iTunes and from my iPod.  The software designers have made the mistake they all make... unnecessary "improvements."  What would be the sense of a nice simple sleek design that put all functions of iTunes and the iPod on one screen.  Look at my iTunes, look at my iPod, look in the Store all... without leaving the nice Classic iTunes interface.  And what have they changed it to?  A completely confusing mishmash of screens that serve one end only... corporate greed.  Can I even just go to the iTunes Store and find what I'm looking for?  What SPECIFIC thing I'm looking for?  No... I have to browse and get a pile of suggestions... because I'm an idiot and don't know what I want?  I fear for Apple.  I have been a loyal Apple user since the Apple// computer.  I have been a loyal supporter of Apple since then... until recently when they have followed one stupid move with another.  Was it really all Steve Jobs who kept Apple on a brilliant design track?  It seems that since his death, the yahoos at Apple have floundered into a desert of self-congratulations.  IT'S UNWARRANTED.  Wake up, Apple.  At least give us a "classic" iTunes option that lets us work in the intelligent, self-motivated way to which we have always been accustomed with Apple, and leave version 11 to the newcomers who don't know what they're missing.  Or can you at least make version 10 available and let us know not to update... but then how will we know that?  Even Software Update has deprived me of free will.  I can't even see what is being updated... The Company knows what's best for me...

There is a larger topic worth discussing here regarding Apple's worthiness as an asset in one's portfolio and the lame Microsoft impersonation they've got going on, but I think keeping this discussion focused on music playing software is the right way to go. The interesting thing to me is that Apple had a product, iTunes, which I considered clearly superior to anything else out there, and they have devolved the thing, in my opinion, for no good reason. I have tried a number of alternatives, and I have settled on Songbird...

This is on the Apple domain so somebody at Apple has viewed it and noticed the huge amount of posts, even if it is the lonely System Administrator.

Also, I wonder if anybody on the Apple board has used iTunes 11 yet?   They must have some view about these complaints.  Maybe somebody should email Gore a link to this site.  I guess all he cares about is flagging the music lyrics in songs on iTunes?

They need to get board members that actually take a interest in the software and not their wallets and status.   I know a lot of people that would do a better job than these figure heads.  Most I'm guessing, just use the Mac for email and web cruising.

Also, what is the average age of Apple's board?  That says a lot.   Apple needs to get young aggesisive people like Zuckerberg on the board.  Somebody who knows what "Cover Flow" is and uses ALL of the Mac Apps.   People like Campbell were big in the 80s and 90s but are TOTALLY out-of-touch with all the new advancements.  Basically everyone I know thinks Intuit is horrid software and is now one big pop-up ad.  Why is this guy on the board???   Same can be said for the rest of these clueless free loaders that no nothing about software.  The only software savy board members are now gone.  These were Jobs and Eric Schmidt.  Both of them worked on Unix based OS systems which were NeXT and Solaris.

Maybe get somebody on the board that really knows Unix like Linus Torvalds or a few smart Professors from Stanford?  They need somebody on the board that can explain the software to the other members.  Currently the board has no brains.

    Current Apple Board:

    Tim Cook

    Millard S. Drexler

I keep coming back ITunes 11 feels like they again released beta sw.  I finally think I have resolved the issues created by installing ITunes 11.  Worked technically fine on OS 10.8 devices and IOS devices in my home. However, my WIN7 machine would not show other libraries (all have Home Share on) nor would it connect to Airport Express.  The Apple support was helpful, but didn’t resolve my issues. They kept blaming Norton or a firewall. Everything worked except the WIN7 machine.  After 3 days of installing, Uninstalling, trouble shooting, etc, the issue appears to be Bonjour was turned off or needed to be repaired. I have never used Bonjour nor do I even know what it is, but as of right this minute, technically things are working.

So now I am discovering the horrible changes that were made… They should give us a utility to easily roll back to 10 until they resolve this.

You sound like one of the Software developers that designed this junk.   Or maybe your on the worthless board?

What ever it is, you can't shut customers up about truly bad software.  Apple can't do that yet here.  Maybe in China they can, but I and others will complain about it and vote with our feet and wallets.

If Apple wants to listen to us and fix the problems, that is their call.  It is a free country and capitalism works by building a better mouse trap!   And following the motto " the customer is always right",  or in this case has some say!

Bonjour is a 'network services' announcement tool. Wikipedia has some technical details…

    Put simply…

Apple use Bonjour to announce thier services (such as Airprint, Airplay, iTunes Library sharing) on a local network. It means any device can 'see' what other services are running on other devices. So instead of needing to know all the setup & configuration details for every service the machine will broadcast them to any device that is listening. I think this is usually installed with iTunes, but I'm not sure about the details of it on a PC. Firewalls & network blockers can break this feature, so the apple support may have been 1/2 right.

Thanks. What is odd is it worked perfect with all devices (inc Win7) instaled I installed Itunes 11. Doesn't show as an app you can open and onbly shows in the section control/programs.

Are you guys sending feedbacks to Apple? I've sent tons of feedbacks, but I really doubdt that is someone on the other end of the "line".

I've been using Mac/Apple stuff for 20 years (My first Mac was a Classic - in Brazil, in a time where ther's absolutely nothing/nowone to ask for help) and never felt so hopeless.

My faith is going down and down because I've believed that apple will restore the features very soon, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

  • crashanywhere Level 1 Level 1

Yeah, I've been thinking that someone at Apple needs to sit down and watch that TV ad where the woman runs into the room and smashes the whole Big Brother thing on the screen. Ya know what I'm talking about? Apple once promised freedom of the intellect, and now they are pushing bliss upon the ignorant. Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose...

I'm very disappointed with the miniplayer. I can probably get used to the rest of the changes (up next feature seems pretty cool), but I need to be able to click to different points in a track in the miniplayer for a couple of reasons. HATE HATE HATE!

Underwhelmed.  I'll get used to it but I really don't see the "WIFM" to justify the time spent learning new controls, functions & workflow.  Frankly I find it less intuitive than the previous version ... which leads me to the question ... why?  I hope there is some significant "under the hood" reason for the changes or they are a pre-cursor of something to come?  I've always subscribed to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" school of thought so unless this is part of a major overhaul it looks like some "marketing genius" decided a new "look & feel" was needed ????? change for change sake ?????
