iTunes 11 does not allow direct Outlook calender sync anymore. Why?

After installation of iTunes 11, there is no direct (cable-bound) possibility to sync an iPhone to Outlook (Windows) anymore. Expecially for business PCs that are behind a company firewall, this is not good. These PCs can't sync to iCloud. How can this have happened?

iPhone 5, Windows XP Pro, iTunes 11

What are you seeing? Here's what I see in my iTunes: User uploaded file

If you have iCloud syncing your contacts it looke like this:

User uploaded file

If you need to sync to Outlook you could use iCloud Control Panel or you can disable iCloud contacts on your iPhone in Settings > iCloud.

Hope this helps.

I just got a new iPad mini a few weeks ago and have been using iTunes 11 since I got it. Up to tonight I had no problems USB syncing Outlook (calendar, contacts, and notes) with my iPad. Tonight, I found that suddenly I could no longer sync with my Outlook calendar on my (Windows 7) PC. My iPad mini has iOS 6.1.3 and my iTunes is 11.0.5.5.

After a lot of failed attempts to correct this problem I stumbled on a fairly simple solution... at least that worked for me. Here's what I did:

- Double checked my Outlook calendar to make sure all my events were listed.

- Unchecked "Sync Calendars with Outlook" in iTunes.

- Synced my device (which had me verify that the sync would remove my PC calendar from my iPad)

- Checked "Sync Calendars with Outlook" in iTunes again

- Synced my device again

After this cycle, my iPad calendar was complete and syncing correctly with Outlook again. Here's to hoping this "fix" holds. I'll post back if it doesn't.

bgrffdave. Thanks, this worked for me too. I spent most of today today trying to figure this out including a phone call to apple support which didn't resolve the issue. I hadn't had any problems syncing until this latest update (11.1.0.126) which for some reason would sync everything except my calendar which it said it couldn't sync because my iPhone was "disconnected"...odd given it synced everything else. I have a 4 with IOS 6.1.3. My iPad synced without issue (a 2 with 6.1.3).

I used to be able to sync events older than 30 days but for now my iPhone will only sync events up to 30 days. If I try any further back I get the same message that it couldn't sync my calendar because my iPhone is disconnected. I'll try again some other time. My iPad will sync further back no problem. Weird.

Think I'll hold off on IOS 7 for now......
