List of iTunes 11 Problems That Need Fixing

iTunes 11, in my humble opinion, has been an utter disaster. A casual glance of the feedback from day 1 demonstrates this. For the sake of clarity and organizational unity, I thought it would be useful to have a running list of problems that need to be addressed, as all software are works in progress. Here we go. Please add your own.

1. No iTunes DJ. No reason to get rid of this.

2. No Artwork Cover Flow

3. Problems playing video files.

4. No Duplicate listing.

-No cohesion between the new tab features – albums –artist etc, moving between them always results in the new tab resetting at “A” very frustrting

This is the one thing that bothers me the most about iTunes 11. Especially because I'm constantly going between different playlists and my main music library. The endless scrolling caused by returning to the top every time is very annoying. It'd be nice if it kept your spot like it used to.

My biggest gripe is the fact that music I bought from the store has a genre automatically assigned to it. I can change it but with 11, the original genre shows up in the playlist, not what you change it to. I purchased Christmas music that is labeled as rock even though I changed it to Christmas. Even though I exclude Christmas stuff from my playlist, because iTunes “thinks” it is a rock song, it plays. I am getting tired of hearing Christmas songs pop up in the middle of my playlist.

Right now, the only reason I am continuing to use iTunes is because of all the money that I have spent purchasing songs from Apple that I can’t play with anything but Apple products. These problems have been going on since December and yes, I have submitted several feedbacks about the bugs. I won’t buy anything from Apple again – if I purchase from other sites, I can play those songs with other software and am not stuck with bugs that Apple obviously has no intentions of fixing.

NOT a very happy customer. Christmas is over and I shouldn’t have to be forced to listen to Christmas music because you don’t want to do your job folks!

I would add that one can no longer have separate windows for each playlist open all at a time. One has to go to each playlist window individually one at a time. You have to close one to open another. With multiple windows you can see at a glance where an individual tune is in many playlists and in what order.

Also one cannot highlight multiple playlists on the left bar and move them to a folder. You now have to tediously do it one by one.

Also the search mechanism was just fine the way it was. The tune looked for would be highlighted in the general library list along with other titles and similarities to see easily. Now it give you eaxctly what you asked for and nothing else,

I think all this is to i- phone users NOT computer users of I tunes.

I hadn't used my iTunes much since I upgraded to 11, but recently I noticed that almost all my songs are showing up as "missing" when I click on them. They're still in my iTunes folder in My Computer, but somehow about 95% of the songs in my library have broken links. I am going to have to go in and redownload my entire music collection back into iTunes (this is about the 3rd or 4th time I've had to do this over the years) and I have THOUSANDS of songs. That means my playlists are going to have to be redone as well. Extremely infuriating to say the least...

In regard to iTunes 11.1.3.8

Innovation is a key part of staying ahead of the curve, especially in the tech world. But, why does apple feel the need to change the function of iTunes so often while only making the program less useful. At one time a person could individually select podcasts and make a playlist that played them in whatever order the user desired. The episodes in the sync list went in chronological order, not reverse chronological order, and they would sync the same way. A user could listen to episodes of a podcast in the order they were released not newest to oldest.

Then apple made a podcast app that most people agreed was terrible. And all of the listed maladies above were relegated to the wretched podcast app. Next thing you know apple decides that it is not the responsibility of the user to have useful function in the product they purchase. So apple takes everything that is most useless about the maligned app and adds it to the iTunes program itself.

I understand that some people might want the newest podcast episodes at the top of the list for each podcast. Fine, but is there not also a tab that collects all of the un-played podcasts in one place? Additionally, there remains a lack of user freedom with regard to selecting the play order of podcasts on the users’ personal device.

Thank you so much apple for upholding you status as the tech company, not called microsoft (they are the other guys), that has no regard for actual innovation or customer satisfaction.

While I'll use iTunes for syncing all stuff with my iPhone (Though I'll probably use DiskAid occasionally when I just need a few files moved), for music listening and handling my collection I just decided to give up iTunes get Swinsian instead. It's $19.95, yes, but it feels like coming home.

Just download it and check it out. My collection of 5.700 tracks got imported fine already in the demo. The only downside I've found is no shortcuts (used QuickTunes). Maybe Quicksilver can help me out.
