Where is the join tracks control. Vital for classical music!
What I really dont understand is why this isnt an option unless I am importing a CD. What about the albums downloaded from itunes?
I'm having the same problem--- only I do select all the tracks and the Join tracks is NOT listed under the Options button. I was able to import an audio book earlier and it was there. I've tried 3 different audio cds and it doesn't work with any of them.
Does anyone have an idea of how to solve this?
The Join CD Tracks option does not appear on this menu at all until you have selected one or more contiguous tracks.
First, go to Edit and choose Select All. Then, click on the little triangle on the left side right above the track names. Click on this one or two times, until the color of the background changes, but make sure the numbers of the tracks are contiguous (start with one). Then, click on Options and the option to join should be there.
This link http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/joining-cd-tracks-in-itunes-1 1/ shows the screen shot with the color of the background and a complete explanation.
Thank you so much! I was following those directions, but somehow totally missed that the tracks were out of order and that I could fix that.
Here's my solution. click on artists, select the songs you want to merge, then right mouse click and GET INFO. It'll ask you if you are sure you want to edit multiple files at once, select yes. Then under album, type the album title again (It'll probably start to show up when you start typing). Then press ok and they should merge.
Or click on the two albums you want to combine and do the same process but be sure you are renaming the album, if you leave everything else unchecked it doesn't change the other info such as track names.

This simply changes all the songs to the same album
It does not make them into one single track (merge them)..
True. But it might be a solution for someone. I know for some reason after upgrading to 11 a bunch of my albums split. I didn't have it super organized to begin with. You think a simple drag and drop would merge them but it doesn't. If you have all the tracks in the same album and listening to that album it could be a "single" track solution sort of. Anyway you get my point.

Yes, for a different topic but not joining tracks (this topic).
But, okay...
Ok so you are going to be one of those. I found this forum searching for such a solution. So again maybe it'll help someone else. Thanks
Hi,
Your response does not help join tracks together. So I don't believe your suggestion will help anyone with this query.
Generally you can only join tracks at time of import of a CD. There are apps that can let you combine tracks together.
Jim
Jim,
Are you being "one of those " also?
😉
Good question. Frustrating. Can't do it w/o external editor.
Not sure if I'm too late or not, but it took me forever to figure it out. I finally figured it out and uploaded some screen shots with step by steps if you still need it 🙂
