What are the different iPhone 5 model numbers?

A = model number

M# = order number

The order numbers will reflect: color and memory capacity, locked or unlocked, etc.. The supported providers ar AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint unless you purchase one that is unlocked. Check them out at Apple's store site.

All iPhone 5 have both an A Model number and a MD Model number. The MD Model number is found in Settings App > General > About > Model.

Here are some examples:

Model A1428 is the iPhone 5 primarily used by GMS networks in USA, Canada, supports LTE bands 4 (AWS) and 17 (700b MHz).

Model A1429 (CDMA model) Sprint and Verizon, Japan under KDDI, supports LTE bands 1 (2100 MHz), 3 (1800 MHz), 5 (850 MHz), 13 (700c MHz), and 25 (1900 MHz).

Model A1429 (GSM model) most GSM carriers overseas, supports LTE bands 1 (2100 MHz), 3 (1800 MHz), and 5 (850 MHz)

Hello i have a question if anybody can help me out, I originally bought a 32 gigs white iPhone 5 and it was an MD model but I got it replace for some yellow spots on the display and the one i have now is an NE model does anybody knows what the difference is? I'll appreciate any feed back thanks!!

i am on the same boat. did anyone find out if it worked? did anybody find out if it will work in the US on AT&T like normal even though it is a Canadian model?

My cousin gave me an MD294C/A model to sell for her which she used when she was in Canada. It is factory unlocked. When I put my AT&T sim card in there, it worked fine, it recognized my AT&T carrier and I got the LTE indicator by the signal bars and when making a test call from my home phone to this iphone with my SIM it worked fine, so I believe the answer is YES!

I realize this thread is old. However Brad if you are out there, where did you get thet model info from? I am trying to match up information on that list. Ex:

Apple iPhone 5 16GB White Verizon MD655LL/A <--- this model to A1429 etc, etc for iPhone model identification purposes.

is sprint and verizon are cellular company's?

each phone have A and MD

MD is Model example MD655LL/A . its showing on the about section from setting

A is type of phone abd region i think example A1429 . its showing on the back of the phone
