Can anyone shed any light on this?
When I search for Whatsapp on my iPhone I get the expected result I.e. Whatsapp Messenger appears in the search results list and is the first app shown.
The iPad however, can't even find it, despite selecting the iPhone Apps tab
I'd insert the screenshot but you can't from an iPad!
Forgot to mention, both devices running 6.0.1
You won't find it for the iPad as it's not compatible so it can't be installed - from the developer's website (http://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/iphone/20950161) :
Please note: iPod and iPad devices are not supported at this time
I thought you could install any iPhone app on an iPad and just run it in iPhone mode I.e. 1x or 2x magnification
Works for other iPhone only apps?
You can install iPhone apps if they are compatible with the iPad, but that app's requirements from its description page say :
Requirements: Compatible with iPhone. Requires iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
I assume that it needs full phone capability that only the iPhone has.

Well, I never knew that!! I thought that all iPhone aps could be run on an iPad, but would just use the smaller portion of the screen.
I didn't know developers had the option to simply make their apps invisible when browsed by other devices
