Where's the Power Search in iTunes 11?

You used to be able to search by Category, Title, Name, Description, etc., now, it's a cluster. Steve Jobs, we miss you, your user-friendly interface people have no clue!!!!

Aside from the missing power search, how does one stop that distracting and very annoying changing/rotating of the three album covers at the top of the display when in the iTunes Store? It is driving me insane it is so annoying.

Actually, the store GUI is just too frigging busy. It is cluttered with album covers and the dynamic display at the top is extremely annoying. All I want to see, ideally, is just the power search dialog and nothing more. I realize the screen real estate must be taken advantage of as a marketing tool. However, what is there now is so incredibly cluttered it is really an ineffective marketing tool because it is just too much a visual overload.

For the sake of all that is holy, why does Apple show so much disrespect to their customers?

I have been a faithful Apple buyer since the Apple II days. I have and iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, MacBook Pro, and iPad. Something has recently happened with Apple. You are making changes for change sake and making adjustments that we the faithful do not need or want.

Of all the OS upgrades, I have had more trouble with Mountain Lion than with any other OS. You have ruined iTunes by taking away the Power Search option and so many other modifications in your other programs....like Contacts....Why did you limit contact size and the overall size of the entire file itself? What a major disaster for me.

Also, not everyone wants to be on the "cloud". There are many things, I just want between devices.....sync vis USB cable from one device to another. I do this for securiy reasons. I don't want certain things in the cloud.

Please go back to some of the basics. You've overdone it this time.

Thank you!

I too join my own displeasure with the consensus of the crowd here.

What I would really like to know, though (among other things) ,is, why can I no longer display my library by albums....with album art.....and with all songs listed from each album.....one by one......in a straight vertical display.....such as I was able to do before?

ALSO: Does anyone know why all of the crap I had previously discarded from the "cloud" is now showing up...so that there is like 2 different copies of almost every single album in my collection?

What a friggin' disaster, man.

AND.....on one last and final note.....does anyone know why my iTunes no longer recognizes blank CD's, nor does it even read/recognize CD's which have been burned by another person's system?

Could this be the fault of Quicktime?

Sure would be nice if Apple would get back with the program here.

God, Apple are geniuses at industrial design but when it comes to user experience and interface they are idiots.

But there is hope, of the more minimal variety...

They removed it from the Quick Links, why? Who knows.

In iTunes menu set, under the Store menu, you will find "Search..." 5th from the top, and it will take you to your familiar interface.

Happy trails.

I have iTunes ver 11.0.0.163 and "Search" is not included in the "Store" drop down menu. I checked this from both the Music display and the store display. What version are you using?

I don't agree with you and I do not think the decision makers at Apple are idiots or stupid, in the slightest. I think everything they do is very well thought out and has a purpose. Certainly they have made some monumental blunders recently and some senior level officers were recently fired as a result. However, I think all the annoying restrictions associated with iTunes (e.g. the lack of a refresh function, etc.) are all specifically intended to make it very difficult for individulals to manage their own music collection. I think this is driven by the deals with the music publishers as a result of their paranoia with respect to piracy. Unfortunately, I think everyone loses because there is overall less music sold. I, for example, do not buy as music as I might otherwise because it is such a pain in the butt to convert every song I buy to an MP3 file for compatibility with the CD players in our cars, transfer it to our NAS so both my wife and I have access to it from our respective computers, and then go through the process to refresh iTunes (on two computers) so it knows the music is in the library. Now that ITLU no longer works, refreshing iTunes is just too difficult so my music purchases will now drop to near zero until I find a reasonable way to refresh the iTunes music library. Since we have two iPhones and a number of iPods I have no real choice but to continue with iTunes so I am feeling very frustrated.

AGREE! I just made a horrible mistake in downloading the new version 11 ony to find the Power Search is gone and the ability to SORT by Title, Artist, Popularity etc.

A company is on a slippery slope when they believe they are smarter than their customers.

Thankfully I have the old version 10.7 on another computer. I am never upgrading on that computer until the day it will no longer work.

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS APPLE!!!

Above, someone said: "PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS APPLE!!! "

I keep monitoring this forum hoping to see some response from Apple. After all, Apple sponsers this forum. It would be really nice to know they are at least listening to and considering the thoughts that are published here. Unfortunately, I have not seen even a single response from an Apple representative even acknowleding these threads are being monitored for anything other than removing inappropriate content.

A week or two ago I started a thread that simply asked if Apple monitors therse comments and uses them for useful customer feedback. Within hours my thread was deleted as being inappropriate. So much for Apple caring what their bread and butter thinks.

If an Apple rep does read this please understand, in my eyes, Apple is certainly not the enemy. Quite the contrary. Apple makes truly wonderful hardware and, as a result, we have spent a lot of money on your products. In exchange, I want to know Apple has an interest in at least listening to and considering my opinions and not just depending on the overwhelming power of excellent hardware to sell product. I am not seeing this and your hardware, as good as it is, is quickly loosing its appeal to me.

Sorry. The singleentry "Search" box is not useful at all.

By removing Power Search, they have removed an important bit of functionality from iTunes.

Under the previous Power Search, you could narrow your search by entering multiple search terms in multiple boxes. For example, if I only wanted a version of a given choral piece, as performed under the baton of or arranged by a specific conductor arranger, I could enter multiple search terms.

Under Name I could put: Cantique de Jean Racine

Under Artist I could put: John Rutter

Under Album I could put: Faure: Requiem

...and it would return only that piece, as arranged or directed by Rutter.

I search for specific arrangements of jazz tunes, that have been porformed by multiple artists, in like manner.

Now, you can only enter one search term like the name of the song, the name of the album, or the name of the artist, and you then have to BROWSE through numerous possibilities.

Now, in addition to the Power Search no longer being available in the iTunes Store, that kind of search functionality is even missing in the Library. Now, if you you search your library, it just shows the possible matches in a little Pop-Down menu under the search tab, with no detail, rather than displaying them in the full iTunes "List" view.

Literally, what they have done is to "Dumb down" iTunes to appeal to those who want pictures instead of useful functionality. They have literally ruined it.
