Thunderbolt on MacBookPro 10.6.8

How do I get Thunderbolt off my MacBookPro 10.6.8? When the MacBookPro is diconnected from my cinema display it causes my notebook to blink blue making it unusable. Only work around I have found is a SafeBoot. Please advise. Can't find any files named thunderbolt to delete.

I checked on my thunderbolt equipped MBP (late 2011 model) for any thunderbolt files and found nothing using spotlight.

I found the following in Finder Help with the only reference to thunderbolt software files being those that come with specific external devices. Note the third paragraph:

There have been these updates and perhaps this is what you are referring to:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1544

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1612

Note that these are for Lion, not for Snow Leopard which you indicate is your OS.

In order to assist you it looks that I would need more information. As I see it, my original response is correct. If not I would very much welcome information why I may be wrong. My purpose on these forums is to help when I can and learn as much as I can.

Ciao.

In reference to your original query, you will not get Thunderbolt off of your MBP. It is a part of your OS which you can get into by using Terminal in certain situations and is something to be attempted only if you know exactly waht you are doing. If you make mistakes, can wind up having a non-functioning MBP.

The solution to your problem as I see it, is to take both your display and your MBP to an Apple Store genius bar and demonstrate the phenomenon to them. I assume that what you describe is not intermittent, but happens all the time. The technicians there have the diagnostic tools that enable for the problem to be defined and rectified.

Like wise what LousyFool has indicated, the screenshots are not working.

Ciao.

Once a System Update is installed it can not be removed. The only way is to Reinstal the Original OS and never do that update again.

I seriously doubt your problem is caused by the TB update. If your system has a TB port then there was software already included in the OS for it. That is one reason there was a 10.6.8 version of Snow Leopard, to update the OS for the early 2011 MBPs that came with the TB port, along with other updates to the OS for those system.
