Cannot Sync Ipod Classic with Itunes 11

I'm having the exact same problem. I try synching my ipod classic and convert to 128 kbs. I always gets stuck on the second track. Please look into this Apple. This started happening when I upgraded to itunes 11.0.

I have this exact problem! I would sync it and it hangs on the second track. I have to keep syncing it until there is only one file to copy.

I am sorry if this is an idiotic posting, but I had a problem getting itunes to interact with my ipod classic after upgrading to ITunes 11.0 on my mac book pro (snow leopard) - but have since cured it.

When I first upgraded itunes, I opened the ipod icon on my desktop and it only showed it as hard drive with none of my music on it.

The new-look itunes showed a symbol for my ipod in the top right hand corner but it also would not accept me attempting to click and drag tracks and playlists into it.

My solution, I simply went into the itunes header on the computer, clicked view and selected 'show sidebar.'

This retrieved the 'old style' side bar to the left of the screen and displayed my old, familiar ipod logo.

I was then able to simply click and drag songs and playlists from my library and update my ipod classic manually. Haven't tried syncing yet, but I am confident it will work as the itunes now seems to recognises my ipod.

Hope this is of help to someone. I had dreaded the idea of having to uninstall itunes and revert back to 10.7.

I have solved this problem. My iTunes 11 and iPod were getting stuck on song 2.

There are two steps that worked for me.

1 - get itunes 10 back by uninstalling 11 and installing 10 if you have it... or restore your PC to a few weeks ago when it had 10 rather than 11.

2 - When you then try to open 10 you may get an error message saying that there is a new library available. How to get round this?

Go to your iTunes main folder and you should see a file called iTunes Library (not to be confused with the one called iTunes Music Library). So this file works with 11 but not 10. You delete this file... and then look in the folder called 'Previous iTunes Libraries'. Pick probably the most recent one - they all have dates like this iTunes Library 2012-09-20 . The date should, I imagine, be from before you installed iTunes 11. Cut this file - and then paste it where you had just deleted the first file I mentioned. Now rename it, taking out the date... . so iTunes Library 2012-09-20 becomes iTunes Library . Your iTunes 10 now has a library file it recognises and works.

This worked for me anyway. Hope it does for you.

BTW: I'm guessing that some music that I added after intalling 11 may not show up and may have to be readded.

Apple absolutely ***** for not testing iTunes 11 properly. The number of problems people have had with it, judging by these forums, is huge.

I will never, never rush into an Apple upgrade again. I also had my fingers badly burned on the iPhone iOS6 upgrade...

I have the same issue. The progress bar moves nearly all of the way to the right, but does not complete. I have a Christmas/Holiday playlist that is unselected most of the year. After selecting the music in it, I plugged in the iPod to sync. When it didn't complete, I selected the X in the sync box to interrupt. When it had stopped syncing, I ejected the iPod. I found that the play list had been copied to the iPod and was playable. I don't know whether all of the music in the playlist was synced.

I tried again yesterday to sync, but had the same issue. Left the iPod syncing all night -- but it did not complete. It is copying 2,071 pieces of music. I'll let it go as far as it can before I interrupt it.

I hope Apple can get this issue fixed quickly!

I am having this same issue as well with my iPod Touch 2nd Generation and iTunes 11 on my Windows 8 computer. I'm afraid to sync my iPhones and iPads. Had ZERO troubles withiTunes10. Apple has not acknowledged this problem and we need a fix fast.

Well, time saver. I did not want to uninstall itunes just to sync my iPod. Thank you much. Now if everyone would stop saying the exact same thing and actually read some of these posts, they would of found you, thus finding the answer!

Though had to first turn on the menu bar on iTunes to have a View choice. My first sync atempt with old nano ipod after itunes 11 install locked the system. Second attempt installed driver but iTunes ididn't seem to get the news

Getting sidebar back and then also using List makes it more familiar.

Hello everyone...I found one way that worked for me.

I first wiped/restored my iPod with iTunes after I put it in recovery mode.

After restore, Enabled disk use, and made sure Open iTunes when this iPod is connected

Then started to sync songs.

It worked for a while but then stopped...

I turned iTunes off, unplugged the iPod then plugged it back in, the disk showed on my desktop as a disk (from disk mode) and iTunes opened automatically and my iPod magically appeared.

Since then I always have iTunes closed before I plug in my iPod and it works! Everytime!

You can just try the step above and see if it works without restoring it.

Since I've upgraded to iTunes 11 my iPod Classic 160gb get's syncronised with iRunes, but the iPod does not recognize my music as audio. It just shows it as "other". Anybody else experienced this? Quite annoying - have all 24.000 titles with me in the car and now I have none!!

Works when I sync to my iPhone, but there I have less capacity and it works perfect with the iPod permanently connected in the car.

So I know where restore is in Itunes, but I am to put my Ipod in receovery mode before I do this? I guess I'll have to look up how to do that. Seems like a lot of unnecessary work, but thanks

What about the option "automatically fill free space with music"? I know it's not the answer to y problem, but is it something I should check? The only thing I have on my Ipod is music, no podcasts, apps or music videos.

Just wait til it crashes your Ipod. Then you'll be really pleased w/ things. Just in the last two days it has crashed a classic 160 and a classic 80 of mine. They were both working perfectly before trying to synch them on Itunes 11 for the first time. This is lunacy.
