Visit OWC and watch their tutorial video. Or open the user manual that came with your computer. It's in the section on Adding Memory. If you don't have the manual you can download a copy from support.apple.com/manuals/.

The new 27" iMac has a RAM slot for easy RAM upgrades. Allan's link will take you to a site which shows the 'joys' of taking a 21.5" iMac apart to get to the logic board to upgrade RAM. This isn't something I'd like to deal with. (The tech I work with looked at the site and groaned at the thought of repairing these new machines.)
