Itunes 11 Missing scroll bar

I searched this site and google and found no solutions to this.

I just installed Itunes 11 and the scroll bar appears to be missing. I can get just the edge of it to appear by clicking the maximize button at the top of the screen (But even that button is barely on the screen). Once I click it I can just barely see enough of the scroll bar to know that it is probably there, but not enough to use it. Also, when I minimize the screen ( I think I am minimizing it, can't see enough of the button or sidebar to know), the view doesn't get small enough to grab the edge so I can change the size. I tried changing my display so I could see more, but it doesn't help. The scroll bar appears to be designed to be off the page/screen and unusable.

I have absolutely no problem seeing and using the scroll bar with any other program. And, with thousands of songs I need the scroll bar in itunes. I would revert back to itunes 10, but my ipad was updated and will no longer work with 10. Itunes is worthless if I can't view my music by using the scroll bar. Turning the mouse wheel and using the arrow keys take way too long.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the scroll bar back? Thanks in advance!

Ok, my entire IT department started working on this. At first they couldn't believe it. Then after 3-4 of them stopped by they did believe it. They all did the same things I did. Minimize, maximize, change screen res, change display size/shape, etc. Cost me a fortune in Mountain Dew (just kidding).

Finally someone found a bandaid. But, it probably won't work if itunes automatically opens when my ipad is plugged in.

We right clicked on the itunes icon on the home screen and went to properties. It was set for "normal window". When we changed it to "maximized" it didn't help. But, when we changed it to "minimized", then clicked on the minimized icon at the bottom of the screen to maximize/open the program, it appeared with a usable scroll bar. Kind of a PITA, but it works.

If you have a scroll wheel, it's easy to get the vertical scroll bars back, just start scrolling. But unless you have a Magic Mouse or a trackpad, you're out of luck. The horizontal scroll bar is not accessable as you have to have a device that scrolls from side to side.

Resizing the window bring will back the scroll bars, but only for a single second which is quite inconvenient. Don't Apple programmers have anything better to do? This "improvement" is a joke, like the rest of the iTunes 11 changes!

I found a very quick fix in Win7-64. Just grab the very top of the window from it's broken "maximized" position, pull it into the middle of the screen, then "throw it" to the right side of the screen, so Windows docks it to one half of the screen. There's your scroll bar!! Then you can click the maximize icon in the upper right and the scroll bar stays where it should be.

Yes, there are ways to fix it, but why on earth should I have have to jump through all these stupid work-arounds and hoops to fix a problem that should have never been there to start with?? And why should I have to do it everytime I start up iTunes. These sort of things should have never passed beta testing. This is mickey mouse nonsense. This software is meant to be from the worlds most valuable company and a premier software house and it is largely junk.

It is blatently clear that Apple knowingly released buggy software merely to met their release deadline (and no doubt some middle / upper manager got their KPI payment that month).

Version 11 is a dogs breaksfast and Apple should be ashamed of themselves. There are good reasons their share price is tanking, and iTunes 11 is one of those reasons.

Ok team...thanks to those of you that have helped me with the pesky missing scroll bar and newly added movies automatically going to "Home Videos" instead of movies. They are both pains but at least there was a way to get there. I still have one more annoying problem that I can't find mentioned in these forums. I have quite a few movies loaded up and I often want to quickly navigate to an area like movies starting with "F" or something. In version 10 I could select any movie to make sure I was in the main window then simpy type "F". This would scroll the movies to "F". Now when I select a movie the bottom half of the main window show details about the movie I selected. Then if I enter something like "F" it simply takes me to the last movie in my listing and opens the detailed view for that movie. Am I doing something wrong? How do I quickly navigate other than scrolling forever or using the scroll bar? Thanks agin for all the help.

I think I may have a solution for some. I noticed that maximizing to full screen makes it so that the scroll bars are not visible.

however, i fixed it by turning off, "minimize itunes to start menu". This can be done on windows by right clicking on the start menu, selecting, "Toolbars", and unchecking, "iTunes". I guess since I rarely use this feature it will be ok for me to turn it off, but for those who do.... you may need to revert to another solution 🙂

Here are my environment setup just in case it differs from your setup

Resolution: 2560x1440

OS: Windows 8/64 bit

iTunes version: 11.0.2.25

i'm no expert but let me know if anyone needs any help with this.

-----what you gain-----

ability to properly full screen itunes 11 to fit your resolution without losing your scroll bar

-----what you lose----

lose itunes control on the task bar (if you even use this feature). a workaround would be to open itunes, or using media controllers on the keyboard to change tracks

Out if all the comments the one that works the best and is the easiest was the first one:

"Right click on the itunes icon on the home screen and go to properties. It will be set for "normal window". Change it to "minimized". Open itunes with this icon. Then click on the minimized icon at the bottom of the screen to maximize/open the program, itunes appears with a usable scroll bar. Kind of a PITA, but it works."
