Cannot sort songs in itunes store by name or artist or album

I just downloaded the new itunes update. I see everything now looks different compared to the old version and not necessarily an improvement. However, my problem is as follows. If I search for an artist or song, the store will pull up a list of songs. After I select See All songs, I see a long list of songs. In the older version, I could sort the list of songs in a variety of ways. For example, if I selected artist, it would sort everything alphabetically by artist. If I sorted by name of song, it would sort the list alphabetically by song. In the new itunes, it does not seem possible to sort. If I click on name or artist or album, nothing happens - no sorting. I can't believe it makes any sense to remove the sort feature, so what is going on here and how can I correct it. If not correctable, is it possible to download the previous version of itunes, which worked just great.

Also, I noticed the new version does not give you the option "see other versions."

OK have not been on iTunes since my last post but getting the notices for this thread. So today I see that when you choose an album, you can sort by album order, title, artist (useless unless a compliation album) popularity and price. So why did Apple remove the sort ability in the search results? Did a silly search for songs with departing and got 282 resulting songs but no way to sort by album or artist, popularity; just Apple's list from 1 to 282, kinda sorted by album and artist but without an obvious order, certainly not popularity.

Seems a deliberate choice. Gives me a deliberate choice not to purchase from Apple. Too bad Apple does not read the user forums. Sent an email to apple and typical corporate response - nothing not even a form thank you for you imput or even an acknowledgement that my message was received.

Apple was on the verge of failure once before till they brought Jobs back. Not sure if they can continue soaring. All things die eventually.

I too can no longer list alphabetically. So much for the world's most advanced OS, eh?

Sorry to say but over the last year or so Apple's attitude has begun to stink.

Removal of optical media drives (yes they are still used, I need to get jobs to my printer or supplied retouched photos to customers on CD or even DVD), downloading of software ONLY (no option for thumb drive or disk) despite those of us on slow connection speeds, and now this. Apple have become arrogant and high-handed and they need to remember their core customers and get back to them.

I'm willing to bet that this is a deliberate move to lay the groundwork for Apple to begin charging record companies for placement in the iTunes Store search results. Basically, they'll limit the user's ability to filter and sort their searches and make iTunes more "Google-Like".

So many greedy corporations in this world it's truly disgusting.

Oh and get this! My son got a macbook pro for xmas and it has the fully functioning iTunes on it! and has learned from my experience - not to take Apple's happy advice and do the update. I've been saving oodles of money from not spending any time in itunes. So, that my friend is a very good thing for my pocketbook. I'm keeping the old iTunes on my desktop computer upstairs that is lightly used and doens't need to interface with the iTouch, the whole reason I updated iTunes in the first place.

I agree with everyone above who is sharing their dislike a the new Itunes software. I always actively avoid downloading updates for things I like that work well, as they invariably end with a backwards result, but this time I made the mistake of finally giving in to the constant pop up asking me to update and disaster.

The very first thing I tried to do was search for a song that returned 100s of results, and then went to sort before realising I couldn't any longer. I thought I must be doing something wrong, but clearly not. My bet is Apple are going to charge for search listings as no way they could be this bad at software development to downgrade the sort facility to no sorting!

Fingers crossed people power changes it, but while it doesnt work it may actually give me the kick I needed to start looking to download lossless music elsewhere rather than the compressed lower quality stuff you seem to get on itunes.

I too have stopped purchasing from the iTunes store, and I've previously purchased over 1000 songs. I hate when someone takes a decent software product and makes my life harder with an update. I refuse to scroll down through their list of over 500 songs looking for a specific song title. I'm very cynical about things like this. My suspicion is that they did this believing that I would discover other songs to purchase as I scrolled. No, I instead refuse to waste my time with their store.

Yeah - me too - nobody in this household wants to update anything apple, even though we all have the apple products. We are at their mercy and it's frustrating. But, those of us unhappy are scanning the horizen for the next better option and they will loose what used to be loyal, stalwart Mac customers. This is just one more way they are loosing their base with the stupidity of moves like this. "updates" feels like an oxymoron of sorts....what they have chosen to do is a "downdate" 😝 I really miss the genre option more than I thought I would. I'm going about finding music in a totally different way now. There must be a silver lining here somewhere - exploring more sites, learning about other approaches and talking with other DJ's has been educational.

P.S. did you notice that even if you hover over a song title, it isn't revealed. You actually have to click on it - and it takes you to the album - where They want you to buy, buy, buy more of the album. But I"m not interested in being manipulated.
