I can still load up Windows just fine but for some reason can't open up the Mac OS parition. I got Disk Utility up but it just says "The drive has a hardware problem that can't be repaired" Please help!

Bad ram? So, why does Windows still operate fine?
I am using a friends MAX OS X install disk, not the one that came with my mac since I have misplaced it.

You can not use a disc from another machine. So maybe the bad ram message is wrong.
Do this right, you have Lion but you mention a disc? Lion never came on disc. STOP before this gets worse.
You have now lost everything (when you erased the disc) and you can not restore it from disc. Unfortunately when you erased the disc you may have erased the recovery partition, so boot with the cmd-r command again and see if there is one.
I know I've lost everything, lol. I may be incorrect about which OS I have. When I press cmd+r Internet Recovery still comes up (like before)
Then reinstall the OS, make sure that you do not choose the Windows partition.

Not if you have a recovery partition you don't, Lion was the first to have that feature.
Yup, you're right. I have Lion.
When I try to reinstall the OS it says "This disk has S.M.A.R.T. errors."
I would repartition the whole disk (this will delete Windows) and start over, if the error reappears it was real and you need a new HDD, if it doesn't reappear it was being caused (at least partly) by your Windows partition and you don't need a new HDD.

No, it's fine. All of that stuff can be deleted. It was just for videogames.
Back to the recovery partition, look for Disk Utility (up on the menu bar) open Disk Utility, select the internal drive (not a partition) and from the erase tab select Mac OS Extended (journaled), give the disk a name and press the Erase button.
Then (still in the recovery partition) install OSX.
When I click the drive it says S.M.A.R.T. status failing and none of the options (First Aid / Erase / Parition) are there.
the entire message is "This drive has a hardware problem that can't be repaired. Back up as much of the data as possible and replace the disk. See an authorized Apple dealer for more information."
That's it then, you need a new hard drive, take a break, you can't fix this.
Oh, and I will take this moment to say that this is why you should backup, but I mean it nicely 🙂
