Saving Genius playlist in iTunes 11?

After turning genius on and off, I now see that I have genius playlists and genius mixes.

Is there a way to save the genius mixes, or convert them to playlists?

Genius Mix are always saved automatically.

You can convert them to playlists simply by opening a Genius Mix and play any song. Then, follow step 3 and 4 in my previous response to you.

You experiment with doing things like this. It will familiarize you with little tricks that most people don't know or care about.

Other than your comment being gratuitous, your method doesn't work.

Sometimes itunes gets a perfect mix...and clicking on one tune in that mix to make a genius play list does NOT duplicate the genius mix.

So my question still stands...how can I save a Genius Mix in Itunes 11.1.4?

It isn't obvious, but this is how you do it:

1. In the "GENIUS" list on the left column of iTunes, grab the Genius Playlist that you want to save (with your mouse or finger or whatever),
2. Drag the list down to the "PLAYLISTS" heading, and release.
3. The list will pop down into your list of saved lists.

Go figure.

I believe the issue is how to save a genius mix, not a genius playlist.

OK. I guess I didn't believe it.

The definition of a Genius mix is an infinite loop of everything you have in a particular genre randomly mixed to loop make a simplified "radio station."

By definition, there's nothing to save.

But you can save a simulated Genius Mix. All that "Genius" contributes is to simulate some FM-radio style segues. You can DIY this style by making a smart list filtered by genre, and then save that generated list (to make it editable) and then adjust the order until you like the seg's. Or just put it on a randomized loop.

Added bonus... you're the genius!

Poor answer. This is a sensible question, sometimes iTunes generates a great automatic playlist, it's not unreasonable to ask for a way to save that playlist, exactly as it is, to a permanent playlist.

Play Genius Playlist.

Click the List icon on the now playing box.

Select All Songs on that drop down list and add to a new playlist.

You'll have to add the currently playing song separate but if you do it right when you first start you'll get the entire playlist to add. 🙂 Hope this helps.
