I have tried to delete the latest itunes and get back to 10.7. Now I have nothing in my library. How do I get the freshly installed itunes 10.7 to sync with the itunes STORE, and get me computers library back?

I just tried to delete the new itunes (Hate it & could figure out how to sync iphone any more), and I reverted back to itunes 10.7 64-bit. When I tried to use itunes, it couldnt read the library because it had been created by the newer version (why it didn't get deleted when I removed itunes I do not know), so I deleted a few itune library files that I found still on my computer. Now I have the 10.7, but nothing in it... no library items. How do it get the itunes to sync with the itunes store

Your media should all still be in place. All you need to do is restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below. The most recent file in the iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be the backup of the database made automatically during the iTunes 11 install.

Thanks turingtest2. I've only had to restore a backup a couple times over the years and I don't know all the options.

I hate to be pesimistic, but I already did those steps.

In the same place as the iTunes folder, is an iTunes 1, that has no iTunes Library.itl That shouldn't be a problem, right?

OK iTunes 1 sounds like a completely new library. Close iTunes, click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and hold down the left shift key. Keep holding until you get asked to choose or create a library. Click choose and browse to <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.

Thanks I had to reinstall 10.7 on Vista. This little detail got it working again after iTunes 11 locked up on launch and corrupted the library.

... See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

I did download this earlier. Is the free version helpful?

Yes. I use it enough that I decided to paid for it, but the free version will do fine for a one time tidy. You could simply use File > Add Folder to Library and then add the media folder. iTFW also includes an option to scan for dead tracks which makes it easier to manage if tracks have been removed or renamed.
