Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Inactive memory automatically increases every time I start my MacBook Pro.

User uploaded file

I have used purge command several times it clear out the inactive memory into free, but after some time it becomes inactive again. 😐

Inactive memory is essentially the same as "free" but what you are observing is unusual and the slowdowns you describe indicate something is amiss.

There are many possible reasons for this. Rather than ask a dozen different questions regarding your system, would you be willing to download and run a little utility that may help point to a cause?

If so read the following:

Apple Support Communities contributor etresoft wrote a very useful app to quickly gather certain system information that may help point to a cause of this problem. Go to his website, download and run EtreCheck:

http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck

Don't be concerned about anything that says "Problem" or "failed".

Copy and paste its output in a reply.

Etrecheck was designed to remove any personal information (such as your computer's name and serial numbers) but if you see anything that looks like an email address or any other personal information that should not be divulged to others, please delete or obscure that information when you post the reply.

When you are finished with EtreCheck, quit the program. It occupies very little space, and you can keep it or drag it to the Trash as you wish.

In this case I would cross-check the CPU tab in Activity Monitor to find out if high CPU usage is involved in the slowdown and if a particular process is doing it (I sort the list by %CPU). If not, perhaps the slowdown is related to virtual memory disk swapping, so I would cross-check the System Memory to see if the Page Outs and Swap Used numbers are rising and also try to identify which process is doing it.

Under normal circumstances Inactive never needs to be manually purged. It is a cache that is supposed to increase performance by making recently used data available in the fastest access memory you have: your RAM.

In your case, if Inactive rises dramatically even before launching apps, there is a possibility that there is a Login Item that is not working properly.

Recently I had the changement of behaviour of my memory RAM. The inactive memory started to rise as soon as I start my mac and keep it high. A week ago the inactive memory raised in relation to the cache of some application and it do not raise after purge it. I suspected a malware but intego and sophos antivirus failed to find it. My question is what happened ?

please find the check of my system

Yikes. You have so many third party system hacks and programs notorious for making a Mac run poorly that you cannot reasonably expect your system to perform as designed.

I suspected a malware but intego and sophos antivirus failed to find it.

"Malware" is a broad category that includes poorly written or incompatible apps and system modifications, and it includes Intego. Get rid of that junk.

Your MacBook Pro is nearly 100% preoccupied with scanning for viruses that do not exist, leaving it with almost zero resources to do anything else. This is the height of absurdity.

The choice to install such programs is yours, but you must comprehend and appreciate their capabilities and limitations before installing them. Depending on exactly what you used CleanMyMac to do, its effects may not be reversed without reinstalling OS X. Never install such junk on a Mac.

You are likely to need much more assistance in getting your Mac to return to normal. Please consider posting a new question with that topic.

Dear John,

thank you very much fo your support, now the situation is getting better, the inactive memory have a rasonable size and the effect that I described disappeared after the unistall of smart deamon. In fact I found that one of his component "cfbackd" ued a lot of cpu.

Let me know the programs that I must not use. In fact I have some problem, I installed the last update and I received an error message. I agree with you, I use too many thirdy party programs.

Best Regards

Mauro

Thanks Mauro, as I wrote earlier there are still too many third party programs and system modifications to enumerate, but at a minimum I recommend you uninstall any and all "anti-virus" junk. It is not required and is only capable of making your Mac run poorly. OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Anything you choose to install can have unintended consequences, including anti-virus software.

In addition to that:

This is far from an exhaustive list.

If it were up to me, given the overwhelming number of modifications present I would completely erase your system and reinstall only software that you require to perform the work you need to do, to entertain yourself, to store valuable documents, pictures, and music, and to communicate with others. These are the usual activities I consider normal for any computer; abilities for which a Mac is designed and ideally suited. Slathering on layer upon layer of anti-virus utilities and system hacks can only prevent you from doing these things.

Inactive memory automatically increases every time I start my MacBook Pro.
