Search iPod in iTunes 11?

I asked this question a few days back and got zero responses, but I can't imagine I'm the only person having this problem. iTunes 11 will not search my iPod. My iTunes library in no way resembles what I keep on the iPod, as I do not want to store 22,000+ songs on my laptop. Please help, why doesn't the new iTunes search what's on the iPod? It has nothing to do with the drop down menu which is in the search window. Is this because I am still running OSX 10.6.8? My laptop will not upgrade any further.

iPod classic, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

There's no real fix at the moment. I do so hate when apple unveils new designs, and in reality just takes a step back in functionality. I connect my ipod to my laptop on various occasions when travelling and whatnot, to listen to music with friends, and I carry A LOT of music with me. I need to have a library search tool for the ipod. It's essential, and no amount of questiong this from other users (some implied this seems to be an action of apple to force music being in one hard drive) is going to change that. If anything, it will stop me from using apple for music.

Ditto. I hate what they've done here. Searching (and staying in list view) is time consuming, and now I can't even search only on my device. I use this function as part of my job, and they just cut in half my productivity. Honestly, I just don't understand how a company with such resources continues to make oversights like this. Let's hope to $!!k that they fix this

This is absolutely ridiculous! I have all of the tracks on my PC, but it's still much easier to manage, create playlists and delete unwanted tracks on a device using the search.... This is not just a "nice to have" feature. It's absolutely essential and I use the search on my iPods every time I connect them (to delete and manage tracks).

Hey, Apple. Please pull your head out of your *** and fix this. Why the **** would you remove the feature? Do you expect us to sort hundreds or thousands of tracks and search and peck? Did you forget that many of us manage our devices manually?

P.S. The current "Search Entire Library" bar on the right side is useless. You can't drag the tracks from there, can't select multiple tracks and can only see a limited number of items.

P.P.S. Why try to fix something that isn't broken?

Yup, somehow they think it's reasonable to assume that your itunes library matches your ipod- in my case 50gb of music. (25 days of MUSIC!) How can they expect someone to sift through all that. This may be their ploy to force people to purchase all of their music from Itunes, if it is the case I will never buy another Apple product again.

Looks like version 11.0.1.12 fixes this issue. Glad the folks at Apple are listening.

Still think the "Search Entire Library" bar on the right side is useless and annoying, but at least now we can search connected devices.

Thanks for fixing this, Apple.

Now, does anyone know how to get rid of ClearType (anti-aliasing) in the iTunes 11?
