When upgrading iTunes yesterday, I noted in the fine print that they were moving apps and ringtones out of iTunes "to focus on music, movies, TV shows and podcasts". Apparently, the App Store no longer exists or is available in iTunes on the Mac or PC at all and, going forward, the new IOS App Store (v11, due out next week) will be the only place to browse, purchase and download apps. There was no mention of how to manage or upload ringtones to your phone now that they have been dropped from iTunes. I personally would create custom ringtones and upload them to my phone via iTunes, but that is no longer an option.

From Manually manage content on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iTunes - Apple Support:

Manually add items from your computer

If you have media on your computer that you can't redownload from the App Store or iTunes Store directly on your iOS device, such as custom ringtones or iOS apps, you can drag and drop the media from your computer to your iOS device using iTunes.

  1. Connect your device to your computer.
  2. Open iTunes. Make sure that you have the latest version.
  3. On your computer, find the item you want to add to your device. If you're looking for Apps, Tones, or Books (for Windows) that previously appeared in your iTunes library, you can find them in your iTunes media folder.
  4. Drag the item from your computer to your iOS device in the left sidebar of iTunes.User uploaded file

I had the same problem, very hard to find my apps in iTunes. I did Transfer Purchases and I wanted to see those apps listed, but even though I can see the Apps option under Library in the sidebar, when I click on it, it shows a blank page.

When I click on my phone icon beside the drop-down that was discussed earlier, then I click on Apps under the Settings section, it shows some screens on the right side (I have 2 screens and a bunch of groups), and above that it shows "38 apps", but it doesn't show me those 38 apps listed anywhere.

So what is the "Transfer Purchases" option doing then? I thought it transfers them to my computer. And why it shows "38 apps" in the top right corner above the listing of screens, but not actually listing those 38 apps?

I guess the Apps section of iTunes doesn't make much sense, maybe it should be taken out completely?

Where are my apps in the new iTunes?
