You can't. CDMA iPhones are all sold locked to a specific carrier and cannot be unlocked for use with any other CDMA carrier. If you wish to use an iPhone with a CDMA carrier, you must buy the iPhone from or for that carrier. Verizon iPhone 5s have their SIM/GSM unlocked, but if you want to use a GSM carrier, it would be best to just buy an unlocked GSM iPhone.
Regards.
Fine. I'll clarify the statement, then.... there is no such thing as an unlocked CDMA iPhone.
Happy now?
i have a question? i have an Iphone 5 from verizon, i took the sim card out of the phone and put a tmobile sim card and it works very well with everything the only thing i dont get is LTE but the 4G works and making and receving calls. so can you please explain to me why my phone its able to be use with a GSM Tmobile sim Card on a Verizon CDMA Network with a sim Card?
Thank you. also if there is a setting or a software where i can update the phone to use it with tmobile and receive LTE, all GSM iphones 5 have a number that Starts with a A1428 and all the GSM/CDMA iphones 5 are A1429..

Because the SIM slot is unlocked in the Verizon iPhone 5. This is required by the FCC as a condition of Verizon having won a spectrum auction last year.

No. The Verizon iPhone 5 is an A1429 CDMA. It is not compatible with any other LTE networks in North America. It may work on some LTE networks in Europe and elsewhere.
So all the verizon iphone 5(contract and paid full price)'s sim card slot is unlocked for both CDMA and GSM? China telecom is using a sim card for CDMA, so all verizon iphone 5 should work there?

NO! CDMA in an iPhone is not and is never unlocked! If you want to use an iPhone with a Chinese CDMA carrier, you must buy an iPhone designated specifically for that carrier.
No. Not correct, I am very sure the paid full price verizon iphone 5 works on Chinese CDMA carrier which provides sim card.
No. It does not. you don't know what you're talking about.
I am currently using it.
Then it was illegally hacked to get it on a foreign CDMA network.
Or it could just work.. Have a little faith
Faith? That is ridiculous. The iPhone can not use a SIM card to connect to a CDMA carrier. There is no faith, or beliefe, or divine intervention that will change that fact. In order to use an iPhone on a CDMA network other than the one it was originally sold for, an unauthorize modification needs to be made to the phone.
Don't know what you are talking about. Many people use Verizon A1429 in China Telecom's CDMA network with a SIM card.
That is nonsense. CDMA iPhones do not use a SIM. If there's a SIM, then the cell network is GSM, not CDMA. Or, again, the iPhone has been hacked.
What part of this is unclear to you? The iPhone does NOT use a SIM to connect to a CDMA network. I know that there are phones that do (or something very similar to a SIM, at any rate), but the iPhone is NOT one of them.
shhhhh...of course there is a CDMA model that uses sim cards. know your models. A1429 model is available for both networks. lock this thread admin.
