Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

When I downloaded my Turbo Tax DeLuxe for Macs I received the message "cannot use application Turbo Tax DeLuxe with this version of Mac OS X" What should I do?

When I install my Turbo Tax 2012 I get the message "Cannot use this version of application Turbo Tax Deluxe 2012 with this version of Mac OS X" What should I do? Turb Tax does nor answer their email or do they have a phone #.

ybsunsmiled... In a previous post (could be here or in another Apple discussion, I stated that a simple oversight caused the retail boxes to be printed without the 32-bit requirement. Again, an error on our part. Keep in mind that boxes are printed months before they appear on a retailer's shelf and at that time, we didn't realize 32-bit was a requirement. Since that time, however, we have done our best to disclose this requirement everywhere possible.

To my knowledge, every single customer who has been affected and wanted another TurboTax solution has been satified without paying a penny more. While some retailers will not accept opened software, our agreement with retailers obligates them to accept any return. With that said, I know that this does not always happen in practice. That is why, again, we'll step in and make the customer whole.

So let me know which option your prefer and I'll make it happen. As mentioned dozens of times in earlier posts, you can:

  • Use Windows if available. You data files are 100% compatible so you won't lose any historical info year-to-year.
  • Use TurboTax Online. Again, you have 100 data file compatibility and transfer
  • User TurboTax for iPad. Again, same data file compatibility
  • Get a refund and look elsewher.

By the way, Windows 32 / 64-bit are completely different from the Apple OS 32 / 64-bit issue. Being able to do it on one OS does not mean you can do it on the other OS. Two different animals.

Based on the email I received from you, you know how to reach me with your answer.

Thanks,

Bob Meighan, VP TurboTax

Unless I'm missing something, 32-bit should read 64-bit, since the system requirements are:

Intel-based Processor (64-bit required) for Mac OS X 10.6.8 and above.

Bob,

I applaud that you are on the forum addressing the problem!

Unfortunately I have the issue described in this forum (32 bit iMac). To make things worse I bought the memory upgrade, OS upgrade and then installed the TurboTax product and ended up here to find out my upgrade investment was for not.

Proposition: I will likely go out and buy a new Mac so I will be able to use Turbo Tax 2012 on the new machine.

Can I get a voucher for the 2013 version next year to offset my upgrade costs?

Thanks in advance.

Joe

Bob, one more thing... just because I think you should know.

Called the 800 number, hold for 30 minutes (I understand, it's tax season) but then he informed me that I was sent to the PC support line. I asked if I could be transfered to the Apple line w/o holding. Couldn't, so I had to hold another 50 minutes. You might want to look at a transfer capabiltiy in your phone system that moves to the front of the que.

Just a thought.
