why do I have blinking yellow light after setting up Motorola modem with airport extreme

Why do I have blinking yellow light after setting up Motorola cable/internet modem and airport extreme? How do I fix it? I've tried unplugging all devices, changing ports etc. By the way, all wireless and wired connections are working properly...just that blinking yellow light.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Frankly I would like to turn off NAT on the Motorola SBG 6580, and have the Extreme do all the NAT and DHCP functions- although to be perfectly honest I don't know if I FULLY understand all that in depth.

But when I "Disable" "NATP mode", which is how it is named in the Motorola Basic setup, I lost access to the Network in general.

I could probably try again...but this is so trying.

I read a few other threads and haven't come across one that said "This is how to do it...Trust me..."
