n8zilla you are right, I know it's an old thread but I have a 3rd party solution that is getting me through this nightmare, and I'm NOT BEING DRAMATIC. It's a NIGHTMARE. Just like all the people who run events based on playlists and need to create playlists partially based on old playlists and do it FAST FAST FAST, this missing feature is simply infuriating. So . . . try this app called "PLAYLIST ASSIST". It's saving my butt every day, although it's hardly as good as what Apple could do IT DOES INDEED GIVE YOU A SEPARATE WINDOW to drag tracks into.

This is typical of Apple these days. I'm a fan of 10.6.x (Snow Leopard). To date, in my opinion is still the best and most stable OS has come out with. In the new incarnations of Mac OS X, many of the useful features of SL were removed. You have to use third-party software to get them back. The newer OS's feel more and more like Windows. In the sense that the 2 steps I used to do under SL, now requires 4 or more steps. But I digress.

I came upon this thread looking for an answer to my iTunes question. I'm a Mac guy, but use a PC at work. Running Windows 7, with iTunes installed (not sure which version though, but that's irrelevant to my issue). I've always been able to launch iTunes, and it would automatically go to Playlist, or the last category I was in when I quit iTunes. In the last week, I've noticed that whenever I open iTunes, it would automatically try to access iTunes Store. Even after selecting playlist, after quitting and relaunching, it would go to the iTunes Store category. Anyone know why it started doing this? I've done nothing different. Anyway I can make Playlist come back up as default on launch?

why can't i open a playlist in a new window with itunes 11?
