I was playing game on my iphone 5 and suddenly the screen turned into white and gray vertical stripes. I tried to turn off the phone but no success. What is the problem with my phone? Is it software issue or just screen quality issue?

So I have had my iPhone 5s for almost a year now and I have never had any really weird or strange issues like this. So tonight I was on Facebook on my phone and then all the sudden I get vertical stripes. I start panicking because I have/had no clue on whats going on. After a while I got the stripes to go away, but now I can get my phone to go to apple that it shows when its starting up, but then the phone goes to a grey screen and it will continue to do that. My phone at the time was a little hot, but at the tie that I'm typing this it's back to it's normal cold self. It's at 100% battery and won't turn on even with the charger plugged into it. Can someone please tell what to do or how can I get my phone fixed without loosing everything that's on my phone?
Note: If I push on the bottom part of my screen above the home button it makes a pop sound. I'm pretty sure my screen is coming off. But still I would like some help because this is making me sick to my stomach.
Here is what my screen looks like
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.
I turn off and turn on the phone and the striped screen appears again.*sigh* I've just used my phone for about 2 weeks!!! So disappointed with iphone 5's quality!
Did you do as instructed in my post earlier not just switch off and on again.
You need to reset (reboot) iPhone.
Yes, I did exactly what you said coz it's the only way to turn off the phone.

No, not true.
To turn off, you need to press the Sleep/wake button on top till the Slide to Power Off appears and you do the slide.
To reset you press the Sleep/wake button and Home button and ignore the slider till you see the Apple logo.
No, I have to press both Sleep/wake and Home button at the same time to switch off coz the screen appears gray and white stripes only no matter how long/hard I press the Sleep/wake button, no "Slide to Power off" sign appears. That's why I said I couldn't turn off my phone in the very 1st post.
Make an appointment with the Apple genius at the Apple Retail Store for evaluation.
If it's hardware issue, you'll get a replacement. Make a backup before you go using computer iTunes.

Siri is still working when i hold the home button and I can hear messges coming in so I assume it's something to do with the display wiring??!

My iPhone 5 just started doing the same thing. I can't turn it off, or reset it. iTunes doesn't even recognize it when I plug it in to my iMac. So I can't do a backup or restore. Very frustrating and it doesn't sound like anyone's come up with an answere here other than take it in to the Apple store 😟
Well, it might be a hardware failure, so nobody here in the forum can help other than you make an appointment with Apple genius.
Same issue! have the phone for five weeks - 5s. Speaking with Apple support - not very helpfu thus farl!!!!!!!!!!!! This is my first iPhone and my guess the last one.
