How to update firmware for SSD
I upgraded to a Samsung SSD and i didnt upgrade my firmware, and read tons of places that you need to. How can i do this, for the life of me i can find A samsung SSD firmware update for Mac

I was hoping to not mess around with those SIP settings, but I think you are probably correct that 10.11.2 has added another level of difficulty to these updates.
I resurrected a Windows Vista box (ouch), loaded Magician and after realizing that the drive can't be updated on a USB connection the update was successful. No data deleted and the firmware is now current. Curiously Magician also found and installed the newer version firmware DXT09B0Q that was listed on the main firmware page.
Are all SSD drives this challenging to update the firmware on a Mac or is just a problem with Samsung SSDs?

The Samsung is bit more painful than others. These should be pushed via the App Store, but Samsung has chosen this path for Macs. Windows has the Magician. Samsung can port Magician to the Mac, if they wanted to.
