iTunes putting in multiples of same album

Yes, I have read all the documents and support on how to make this work but it is STILL not working. In my iTunes library, there are numerous occasions where the songs are on the same album, I have made double and triple sure they have the same album name and album artist. Even going to the point of copying and pasting from one track to the next. And yet, it STILL lists the songs as being on two of the same album.

For example, I have Adele's album 21. 9 songs are on the Adele 21 album. Two other songs are on a differnt Adele 21 album listing--despite their being on the same album and having the exact same info.

The only way I have been able to work around this, is to tag each individual song as Part of a compliation. But surely I should not have to do that for all zillion songs in my iTunes..

Please help.

WOW! That is scary that I had to do that! But it worked. I added XXX to the end of the album name after selecting all the tracks and "Get Info...". Then, I closed out of the box, and once again went to Get Info, and deleted the XXX with all tracks selected and now it works. Freaky that you need to do that..Apple just isn't the same without Jobs.. alas.

Thanks for solving my problem--or at least finding a workaround!

I had the same problem a long time ago, and found a solution after diligent searching. Right-click on the misfiled song, select "Get Info" and then the Info tab. Select the Name field at the top and tab through every field through the Album name. If there are any spaces at the end of the highlighted text on any of the fields, click at the end of the line of text and backspace to delete any "white" space, then hit OK. If there are any extra spaces on the Album line, iTunes interprets this as a separate album.

It's probably a variant of the XXX trick, but if not, it might help.
