Use 21.5" iMAC as External Monitor for PC

I'm trying to use my iMAC 2.7 GHz I5 as an external monitor for my Win 7 PC. I connected MDP from PC to iMAC Firewire. I enter display mode by pressing T while booting the iMAC and it detects something in the Firewire port but the PC cannot detect any monitors.

What do I need to do? 😕

The ONLY possible way is if your PC has a Thunderbolt output which is highly unlikely. Therefore no you cannot use the iMac as an external display to the PC. If you want to get the same quality display there are similar displays available such as Apple's LED Cinema Display. You did not complete your profile so I don't know where on the planet you are located but if you are in the US the US online Apple Store sells this display refurbished for $829. Here is the link:

nope you're wrong kaufmann- and you don't have to be a prude, just don't reply in the first place if you feel you have answered sufficiently.

raouf use the adapter.

thunderbolt is an intel innovation, and patented and trademarked accordingly, not exclusive to apple. few if any pc's have adapted it, but several external drives use it, possibly other peripherals.

Unfortunately you have no idea what you're talking about. Show me one PC that will work in Target Disply Mode with a late model (2011 forward) iMac. You know you can't you stop trying. Read what Apple has to say about the matter and then tell me Apple doesn't know their own business. Quit trolling 4 month old threads and post some facts.

So with that being can't I just buy a compatible motherboard that has thunderbolt ports such as this one?
