copy to new folder using automator

hey all

i am trying to create my first, yes, sorry! first automator workflow and have what should be an easy question:

i would like to scan a directory for folders containing a certain filetype appearing there in the last week, and to then copy the folders and contents to a new folder created upon a positive result.

i am able to do this with an existing folder, however i cant newly create a folder (eg; if new folders in directory A are found, then create directory B and copy new folders (and contents) to directory B.

my error is "directory B doesnt exist"...obviously!

the reason i want to create a new folder (on my desktop?) is so i will know when it has been updated. i saw something where you can create dated folders - would that be a solution?

very new to automator and working my way to basic workflows. would really appreciate guidance.

thank you. 🙂

thanks Eric,

i dont understand why a folder is not created by using the action "create new folder"? im not at home now (pc at work) so not sure if the wording is correct....

is there no way to copy existing [ Folder (A) -> contents (A) ] to Folder (B) - > [ Folder (A) - > contents (A) ]?

seems like there should be?

You are welcome.

I am essentially Automator illiterate. The few times I have tried to use it, just so I'd know how, have left me banging my head against the wall. I can struggle through Apple Script. Luckily, I don't use work flows on a regular basis.😁😁

I would take your last question and start a new thread if you want it answered.

You may find some help here. It says it is for Lion, but I think most things are probably the same:
