Why does it look like something is broken on the left side?
It looks that way because I separated the screen from the body to make sure that it wasn't just a loose connection. This is before the phone was put back together.
Bummer. You realize you have voided the warrany, right?
Yes, I know. I was just hoping that it would be a loose connection because I had seen elsewhere that white blocks at the top of the screen meant a loose connection. This started as that and then went to full black screen with the white bars and blocks. How does Apple know I opened the phone though? Is there some tell-tale sign?
They will know. Trust me. There are tamper proof seals inside the phone.
A replacement is going to cost you $229.
iPhone 5 display only shows white lines
