Iphone 5 and IOS 6.0.2 is draining my battery!

Beware IOS 6.0.2!!

I loaded IOS 6.0.2 yesterday. Unfortunately it only partially fixed my wifi issues (I already have several posts about my wifi issues). But, to my complete and utter frustration, it introduced a NEW ISSUE I was not having before -- it is absolutely draining my battery. I can usually get through a day with about 75% of my battery power remaining. Today I've gone through 90% and I've done nothing special with it.

Come on, Apple! I know you guys have to be reading these posts. You are driving your loyal fan base away. I'm ready to get my money back and switch to Android. The time (hours-and-hours spent trying to debug my problems) and money do not seem worth it any more.

Similar situation here. I didn't have any WIFI issues before 6.0.2 but I _did_ have battery drain concerns. In short, the update introduced WIFI issues _and_ made the battery drain issue worse.

I did a full reset on the phone and it seems that settled the WIFI issues. I haven't noticed any issues since.

However, my battery is now worse. I left it on my nightstand without charging last night without charging it and it went from 20% remaining to 13% in 8 hours of idling (while I slept). Do the math, it's a far stretch the advertised 225h of standby (about half). I used to only burn one or two percent while idling overnight.

If draining it completely doesn't help, I'll try a DFU reset.

I was only made aware of DFU restores when it was mentioned to me by a genius at the apple store. Here is some info:

It's essentially a last resort for reinstalling the OS. Sometimes things go sideways when updating the OS. I don't have a lot of hope in this process, but it's one of the steps that Apple Care usually does before they'll issue you a replacement phone.

I am having the same issue. Before updating to iOS 6.0.2 last night I never had wi-fi or battery issues at all. Would easily make it all day with general use (Facebook, texts, phone calls) with ending up with 40% at the end of the day before recharging. Today I barely used my phone at all, and I noticed I was down to 40% after 3 hours of being off the charger. This is a significant change in battery drain. Apple please fix this issue asap. I am using iphone 5, At&t.

Quick update on this, I'm still letting my phone drain before I charge it again. It's been sitting at 4% for a few hours now (mostly idling). I have a feeling the phone is confused about how much power is actually left. Once it drains and recharges to 100% in one sitting, it should know better and am anticipating it getting better then.

You should try this if you're concerned about the battery usage. Updating the OS has done this to me in the past. Keep us posted on this thread.

I am not only having issues with my Battery draining fast, but now I'm having issues connecting to the Carrier (AT&T 3G, 4G, and LTE). So far, yes, the WiFi issues I've been having seem to have been fixed. But, it'll show that I have full Bars for AT&T LTE, but am unable to connect to the Internet under any app.

iPhone 5 GSM running 6.0.2

I've tried a Full Restore as well. No dice. Same issues..

I haven't noticed any battery drain issues, but now the update started giving me wifi issues on my iP5. Says unable to connect to wifi network and then the network doesn't show up anymore. Tried restarting the phone as well as reseting network settings, but all it does is it makes the network appear but then does what I mentioned above again.

Same here ! I upgraded to 6.0.2. yesterday as I did experience small ⚠ issues with the connection to my WLAN in the past. After the upgrade I only get connection to my WLAN if I'm standing a maximum of two meters away from my router and my battery drained by 30% in the night while I was sleeping. My iPad running 6.0.1. is working like before. Is there a way to restore the phone to 6.0.1. ?

One more with the same problem...my battery is draining fast now that i updated to 6.0.2.

Firstable i must say that i installed the new update without having any wifi issues.

Before with the 6.0.1 i didn't have any kind of problem with the battery, i could have my battery full charged without doing any use of the Iphone 5 the whole night keeping 100%. But this morning when i woke up the battery was in 91% obviously without using the Iphone during the night.

It is supposed the new update was to solve or to improve the wifi issues...but thanks god nothing is wrong with my wifi, is normal like before after applying this update. But if i had known about battery was going to drain faster i wouldn't have updated the iphone (more if i didn't have any wifi issues before).

Just did a DFU restore of 6.0.2 ! The first thing I noticed, was how quickly the battery percentage showed a sharp decline with very less use. I`m so ****** off with Apple. I spent a wad on this phone and what i get is this nightmare ! I was so hoping to see a fix for my wif-fi issues, and the resultant patch provided is absolutely abysmal ! bloody **** it created more probs than it solved !

I fire up my dropbox and all it says it doesn`t detect a connection. I`m hooked into a hotspot that has 3 huge MiMo antennas... still the performance on wi-fi shows no improvement ! I`m from India and buying an iPhone here is considered a terrible idea. I went ahead with my purchase with the only belief that this version of iPhone was something and stuff... i have no chice now to embrace android and get hold of a reasonbly working handset, for i have no trust in Apple anymore to provide quality hardware/software to consumers ! shame on you Apple ! i`m very dissapointed.

I let my phone (iPhone 5 btw) drain completely until it turned off and then charged it to 100%. Then I let it sit idling all night again and saw a 9% drain in less than 8 hours. So this hasn't resolved the issue.

If you are having WiFi issues after the update, try resetting your phone (settings -> general -> reset -> erase all content and settings). Make sure you have a backup first obviously. I had severe wifi issues after the upgrade similar to some described here and a full reset resolved it.

I could try iOS 6.1 B4 since I have a dev account with Apple. Has anyone tried this yet?
