Iphone 5 and IOS 6.0.2 is draining my battery!

Beware IOS 6.0.2!!

I loaded IOS 6.0.2 yesterday. Unfortunately it only partially fixed my wifi issues (I already have several posts about my wifi issues). But, to my complete and utter frustration, it introduced a NEW ISSUE I was not having before -- it is absolutely draining my battery. I can usually get through a day with about 75% of my battery power remaining. Today I've gone through 90% and I've done nothing special with it.

Come on, Apple! I know you guys have to be reading these posts. You are driving your loyal fan base away. I'm ready to get my money back and switch to Android. The time (hours-and-hours spent trying to debug my problems) and money do not seem worth it any more.

The only thing that has changed on my AT&T iPhone 5 was installation of 6.0.2. Imagine my surprise when my phone was completely 100% flat after just sitting on my desk for a few hours. I tried a network settings reset but that didn't seem to clear it. It seems that it is an interaction between the iPhone on 6.0.2 and my Netgear router, as the accelerated battery drain doesn't appear to happen at my work.

I left my phone on my nightstand at 95% and when I got up six hours later the phone was completely dead.

I unplugged my phone this morning when I got up and it only showed 92% even though it had been charging all night. Sitting here a little over an hour later and the phone is down to 82% even though I haven't used it.

Houston, we have a problem.

I have two iPhones 5. They both are the same, with the same apps, the same configurations. I updated with the 6.0.2 just one of the phones. There is no reason to question the problem with the IOS6.0.2. Apple, please fix the issue with 6.0.3. Everyone above have his/her point. THERE IS A BATTERY PROBLEM! Don't be that big bird that put the head into the send underground. This is unacceptable.

My first post in the Apple communities forum. I am so frustrated with Apple!!! Ever since the launch of the iPhone 5 (on Vodafone here in the UK) I've had nothing but problems!

Weak signal (never had issues with coverage on the iPhone 4)

Constantly drops off 3G

Dodgy Wifi connections - needing reset / reconnect regularly

I had high hopes for some fixes following the update to IOS 6.0.2 this week, but it's introduced ANOTHER problem which seems to drain the battery SO quickly. Haven't done anything unusual today and made a point to ensure no background apps were running.... so far, after 4 hours from full charge I'm drained to just 37%!!! What's going on??

APPLE PLEASE SORT THIS OUT!!! Currently I cannot recommend Apple to my friends and family and am beginning to lose faith in the brand and what used to be top of the range, cutting edge and innovative products.

PLEASE PLEASE put an update out to users to commit that these issues (can we still call them teething problems after 3 months??) are going to get addressed and BY WHAT DATE can we expect a fix?

Thanks... a very frustrated Apple customer!

I hate to tell you guys that the battery drain has ALWAYS been there since the iPhone 5 came out with 6.0. It got worse with 6.0.1 and now with 6.0.2 worse still.

Mine has never gotten any more than 4 hours of use before dying (half of the advertised 8 hours that Tim Cook presented). I have screen shots to prove this. I have traded in my phone 3 TIMES after trying every fix I could find on the forums(DFU restore, turning off push, location services, ad tracking, you name it). Nothing helps. I think Apple sold everyone an iPhone 5 with either A. a bum battery or B. a poor antenna that drains the battery. It's not strange that they have not said ONE DAM WORD about the issue because they would be giving everyone their money back or a new phone or doing something that would cost them a crap load of money to fix the issue. They rather ignore the issue, come out with a better iPhone in six months and charge us for something that should have been fixed for free in the first place.

Actually I'm not mistaken. There are two forums on here with over 300,000 views and 2000 posts dedicated to the IOS 6.0.X battery drain issue. Your phone may not have experience this directly until now but trust me, it's ALWAYS been there for a majority of people with both the iPhone 4s and iPhone 5.

Same here I thought I purchased an Apple product.....maybe I'm wrong but I feel like I have my Razer Maxx again on IOS 6.0.1 I had no wifi issues and excellent battery I could use pandora for over 45 minutes before my battery would hit 99% from a full charge now using Pandora for the same time frame and my phone is at 43% This is a Verizon iphone 5 can I go back to IOS 6.0.1

For now on I'm going to wait a full month before updating any new software and this is making it hard for me to purchace any new Apple products in the future

Apple You need a lot more testing before you push out updates Steve Jobs would be very unhappy with the way the iphone 5 has launched

I've had battery issues since day one on my phone. However, when idling, it was always fine. My drain issues were always worse when on 3G/LTE (same on both). I commute 2h per day (1h each way) and often use the phone nonestop. When I do that, I drain between 15% to 20% in an hour which is less than the advertised 8h. I traded it in and I'm on my 3rd iPhone 5. Each had the same issue. I eventually gave up because I could still make it through the day. Most of the complaints that I read that were similar to mine seemed to come mostly from Canada and the UK and so I wonder if it's not carrier related...

With this newest updated, I now see a drain when I'm idling so the issue is compounded. I don't think I can make it through the day under these conditions which is a show stopper for me (I haven't had to commute yet this week). I could get a second charge cable ($45!!) so that I can charge while I'm at work but that's ridiculous for a $700 phone.

I'm hoping now that this issue will get more attention and hopefully a fix. I'll see if I have time to call into Apple Care today.
